Safari snorkel on a 5th gen?

Just saw this on the icon Instagram page. Anybody have an explanation?

now THAT one i would buy.. i dont like how big the lower piece is on our trucks. (the group buy snorkel version)..yes i understand why it is) but it can be rerouted like this guy probably did (its probably for a tacoma)

Interesting. I wonder how well it looks up close? The pictures make it look good, definitely looks better than the Chinese fiberglass one IMO.

They don't sell them over here so it would have to be shipped from down under unless somebody went and talked to ARB USA on the upper left coast.

As stated it would be nice to see some close up pics of where it mounts on the fender. Who knows Mandarin to join that forum and ask him for better close up pics?From far away it looks like it fits the 4Runner better the the Prado. lol

I emailed Mark at expeditioneers back in June and he said that they were "at some point" going to make one for the 5th gen but he didn't see it happening this year. I think the Tacoma was the main model they wanted to get going before they started working on one for our trucks. I'll probably shoot him another email first of the year and see if there are any updates.

I've been emailing them for the past 2 years, from what I remember him saying is they have a manufacturer on the other side of the world and the hardest thing is getting the communication right. The snorkel has been "under development" for quite some time now.

I like my FTS snorkel, it def has grown on me. That with a safari first gen topper, it looks great. I also thought it would break the first time I went out wheeling, but it has taken some hard hits and hasn't cracked yet.

 
For a Australian manufacturer, R&D on a platform that is mostly sold in North America and that less than 1% of them would buy, that is a big expense and may not be a good business decision versus R&D on a worldwide platform (like a Hilux).

The current generation Tacoma have been around for a long time and they sold a bunch more than 4Runner, so keep waiting...
 
I'm trying to contact the guy who retrofitted the prado snorkel to work on our trucks. I found another picture while I was going through their forums. If I find anything else out I'll let ya'll know.

This one is a different 4Runner than in the first pics. The pics at the beginning of the thread are a silver TE and this one is a white SR5, so we know it's been done more than once...

What part of your runner hasn't taken a big hit lmao! Hope your doing well brother! Need to get together for some wheeling before it gets to cold! Really digging that Safari.

I called ARB for a vendor to order one and it is 6-8 week back ordered.
I've got one on order last month and it's coming in from Australia as there were none in this country ,being they don't sell Prados over here .

Talked to ARB tech on the phone about these being such a close fit to the Prados and he said that the 5th Gen 4Runners are on the list to get officially fitted for one as some guys were coming over from Australia to do it ,but couldn't give a date.
