safe to use castrol highmillage at 281k? and other question

okay so i noticed that the Pennzoil i used a month ago in my truck looks horried. Ill never use Pennzoil again i always used mobil 1 covntineel i wish i could use synthetic but im terrified to use it because i bought the truck at 245k but i wanna insure that i can get a million miles out of her so im wondering is it okay to use the castrol high millage oil which has part synthetic in it ?

second question.
I want to do a radiator flush but what kind of colent do I need to use?

3rd AM i able to use Dexron VI for the powerstering?

What penzoil oil did you buy? I was under the impression that since penzoil was bought by shell a few years back it's been the top over the counter oil available. I just put penzoil platinum in my truck after reading great reviews over at bobistheoilguy.com

1. They all work - conventional, synthetic blend, full synthetic. Pick one and the brand you like. The engine is probably the last thing to go on the truck.

2. Toyota red. I'm sure there are other compatible ones out there, but I stick with OEM. It's good quality stuff.

3. As long as its ATF. I believe Dexron VI must be backwards compatible as it supercedes all previous Dexrons. I put Mobil 1 Full Synthetic ATF in mine with no problems at all. Perhaps someone else can chime in on this.

I dunno if you want to use synthetic, because conventional was used for so long, there may be minor leaks in the system, if you put synthetic in it will clean the sludge off but in the process it breaks down the thicker old oil and if there are any holes in the system that the conventional oil blocked the synthetic may leak out of them.

Pennzoil is great oil. Both conventional and synthetic. It probably looked horrid because it cleaned alot of crap out of the engine and was holding it in suspension. Also, there is no such thing as Mobil 1 conventional. Just Mobil.

If I were you, I would use a high milage conventional oil, like Castrol, Pennzoil or Maxlife. Change it every 3-4k max. The best thing for older engines is simply keeping good clean oil in them.

The correct answer is NO. It is not the same. You need Dexron III. It is a different formula and is not backwards compatible.
