Sagging Drivers Side

So I have noticed this for a while but always thought it was just due to the slant of the driveway but today on flat ground I measured wheel well and frame heights and found that drivers side is 1/2" lower (Frame) and 3/4" lower (wheel well), I think the difference is human error:

I found some old threads that say most 4th Gens have this issue but it seems to be getting worse.

Anyone else have this happening?

How much do you weigh? Maybe you're sagging because you're a fatty?

Nah I'm just kidding, that's really weird, I though I noticed mine sagging the other day but I just figured I was crazy, I might have this same problem...

its pretty normal. gas tank is more to the drivers side. mines the same way. you can shim it up using the toytec shim, just email them and they will give you the part number. the shim goes on top the strut assembly tho so it will take some doing.

This is what Doug from Toytec said:
it is not uncommon to have the drivers side lower on even non lifted trucks. The front can be leveled out using one of our TP14 spacers, the rear should raise up too on that side unless the spring is not properly seated or something else is causing it yo be lower on that side.

You might want to check if your shocks are okay and are not leaking.

Well I have noticed fluid around the front left shock for a little while but haven't noticed any difference in the ride.

Thats your problem right there. You might want to think about replacing the shocks. I have the same problem and i have bought KYB's. Havent replaced them yet. Nice weather has me working on my bike now.

Yeah, see that's what's worrying me. Overall the 4Runner is such a great vehicle but at 8 years old it is starting to show some age. Currently sounds like new LF hub bearing, rims are corroded something bad, muffler heat shield just fell off onto drive shaft, and now potentially suspension replacement. There isn't anything critical but like I say, the list is getting longer.

Have you concluded that the shock is the issue? Normally a shock shouldn't cause sagging, but with the X-REAS acting as a cross directional sway bar of sorts I could see how a loss of pressure there may cause it to sag some.

What did the KYB's run you if you don't mind my asking? I see some threads on here for replacing the X-REAS but haven't researched total cost yet and it is something I would like to take into consideration for the future.

Shocks are for shock absorbtion. They have nothing to do with ride height or stance, that's what springs are for. Shocks don't support the vehicle in any way, so that can't be the cause. It is normal for the driver side to be a little lower than the pass side but if it's excessive look for a broken or unseated spring? The rear of mine (Rear air) was unlevel all winter but recently corrected itself. I'd suspect a dirty or corroded levelling sensor if you have RAS.

Oh okay. I dont have XREAS. I got them online for like $240.00 for all four of them.

There is a DIY on how to install it yourself. Its a little bit of work so i have been putting it off.

Now that i think about it, i think you are right. But i was thinking that the shocks would add a little strength to the spring.

But looks like he has a leaking shocks and its XREAS. Heard its a little difficult to replace compared to the regular ones?

Driver's Side Sag.

Hello:

I asked similar questions once upon a time. I was told the US version of the 4runner has both the gas tank and the battery on the driver's side; V8 version.

The design is different for other countries and the slump is not realized.

I was considering a lift and level kit , but still haven't pulled the trigger on it.

I even made allowances for myself eating too many girl scout cookies in my original question. ha ha ha ha ha...

So no one FARK's me again (Drew Curtis' FARK.com), the lift and level was for the 4runner not my @$$ (heehaw). :toilet3:

The dealer set up the 4runner for me upon delivery with 63 lb of air in each driver's side tire. The passenger side 28lb.
