I think the biggest issue with buying a salvage titled vehicle is no two are the same. It becomes hard to say whether one is a good deal or not. My first 4 runner was a salvage title. It rear-ended a car at a traffic light. I bought it for about 10k under book value. I drove it for 9 years and put 180,000 miles on it before the head gasket issue came along. I still got 2500 for it with the head gasket. If you can determine if the repairs were done correctly it may be an option, just know that it will be difficult to sell one day. Dealerships will not want to give you much for it and private parties will use this as their negotiating point. You're simply trading money on the front end of the deal. When 4 runners of your that year are going for 10-15k you won't be getting much of anything for that one.

Sent you a PM. Don't know that you can beat the 43,000 if you consider what it would cost to ship it to Hawaii.
Just looked on their page. The prices have gone up about 1,000 from when I bought a year ago. They range from 40,500 to 41,152 for the premium. SR5 Premium's are running around 37,500.
Keep in mind that this is a dealer that has it's own Off Road add on department so some of the higher priced 4 Runners they list might have already been modified. Last time I was there they had a couple that had Pro kits, lifts, tires and some other goodies already installed.

Thanks for the info! If those prices are with them a bit modified, then it's worth it but then again shipping from CO will be roughly $1750

The shipping from CA is probably cheaper given proximity. You can certainly get that price ( I beat it by a few bucks about 3 weeks ago) from a SoCal dealer that's only a short hop to Long Beach Harbor.

Back in the 70's I had a body shop and used to buy a lot of wrecks like this and rebuild/sell them. We rebuilt a lot of vehicles in much worse shape than this 4runner is. If it was fixed right it will be fine. Just check the frame close and make sure it is not bent or damages. That being said now that I am older and can afford it I would not buy it for me.
