Have you lifted the vehicle in the air to make sure all wheel turn freely. You could have a locked up caliper that is causing the sluggishness due to more more to turn the wheel. Just a thought.

Brakes are fine. They where checked yesterday with the truck on jackstands and disabled the trac control so the wheels spin freely. Everything worked fine. Anyone know what I should check next?

I don't know much about the traction control electronics but I know the early versions would really clamp down the engine power when trying to accelerate hard. MAYBE yours is sensing something and reducing the power.

Ill disable the trac control and drive it, maybe thats it. Ive tried everthing else. If nothing changes its off to the shop. thanks for the help guys.

Although this is an old post, I had a similar experience and it was related to changing the plugs. The connectors on the coil packs have contacts that are easily bent when unplugging, and if so, there will be all sorts of constant/intermittent acceleration issues. Sometimes you'll get a check engine light, and then connecting to an engine diagnostic system will tell you which cylinder(s) and the offending coil pack(s). If no light, remove the connectors and check the contacts and see if any are bent. Carefully straighten any bent ones with needle nose pliers, reconnect, and test drive. Hope this helps.

Have you checked it to see if it's throwing any error codes? A local auto parts store such as Autozone will check them for free.

I do not see how an oil change would cause it to run sluggish.

Sounds like you got some bad gas to me. I'm sure you've heard before not to fill up where you see a tanker truck refilling the pumps/tanks. Not that you did that, but your symptoms sound the same.

run a bottle of lucas oil deep fuel cleaner, its a blue bottle, get it at walmat at around 9, its the cheapest store to get compare to autozone and pepboys and orileys, but summitracing is cheaper at 7 bucks a pop.

Ok About 3 months ago I did a oil change 0n my 06 4.0 4runner. That next day i drove it i notice that acceleration was very poor and continued for a month or so. I changed plugs, cleaned air mass sensor, changed air filter and put better gas in. After that month passed I was using midgrade gas and it was driving great again. Now Im back at the same problem again. I use Valvoline 5w30 and the dip stick reads full. Im puzzled and upset that ive wasted my time and money and still no improvement. I would greatly appreciate any info. Thanks David

It really sounds like bad gas or water in the gas. I also had a similar problem from fouled injectors in my land rover. 3 of the 8 had reduced flow and it drove like a dog when I ould try to pass others.

Run some lucas oil deep fuel cleaner. Im thinking clog injectors or improper cleaning of maf sensor. Did the op take the throtle body of f the intake manifold to do a thru cleaning?

I do not have a whole lot to add to the conversation when it comes to solutions...I can tell you that i had the same problem after two oil changes back to back. Each time after about 500-750 miles the problem would go away. The transmission was acting up, the motor was sluggish...It was awful. Took it to the dealer. They looked at it and said all was fine but i knew something was off...It hasnt happened in the last 4 changes or so...But if it makes you feel better ive gone through it too.
