I think this is the part where we're talking past eachother, or I'm missing your point or something? Fear is a component, but the terrorist is only peripherally interested in the fear he/she is inspiring in the people he's attacking. A clerk getting killed in a 7-11 robbery and a kidnapped reporter being shot in the head on live TV by an ISIS ******* are both afraid of the gun being pointed at them, but only one is terrorism, right?
I agree. I wish everybody else in this thread was having a good conversation.

I think it's a mistake for anybody to use this or Colorado Springs or anything else as an argument for or against gun control. More regulation wouldn't have prevented either of these attacks, and neither would less. Both are bigger than gun control.

I think the majority of us here can at least agree that more gun control is not the answer.
Which leads me to ask: what is the answer?
I know I'll be asked - yes, I am a gun owner.

There is no answer to keep people from fighting in the name of religion. However misguided or warped sense of direction they have, THEY believe it to be righteous and just. Again, many religions have done this over man's history. Stopping it here in the US will require politicians to have a backbone and big balls and get away from the hand holding everyone get along slap on the wrist lets all be friends we can rehabilitate you mentality. If anything, and presented correctly, THIS could be a reason that would finally get every US citizen, regardless of race or gender or sexual persuasion to unite and rally towards a common goal.
The problem is we have a government that separates church and state. They don't recognize religion. We are fighting religious zealots. That's a problem.
When someone goes to the Middle East comes back a month later married and then has bombs, weapons, tactical gear, and cameras. Then the fbi confirms he was in contact with individuals on terrorist watch??? Sounds like a terrorist to me. Not only his "wife" but the people in his house hold that are living with him need to be under the same label. I don't know about any one else but I know everything that comes in or out of my house hold. Even the field mice can't leave without a trace. Someone saying they have no idea he was "radical" is crap and they are playing a key role in it. People need to grow up this is not a movie. It's real life. Quit getting your panties in a wad over the Internet. Sure there are going to be idiots here, They are everywhere, what you can control and what you need to do to protect your family is your Buisness. I know my family will be protected.

Tell that to the FBI who also aren't saying it was a terrorist act.

I'm going to assume he is referring to Munich. The beginning of the rise of this type of terrorism. Then, as now, the horror was quite extreme.

Love this pic. I believe we had a very interesting conversation/thread about this very thing. According to some, the bearcat and "military Humvee" are over kill and police departments do not need such items. The crown Vic would of done a hell of a job.......Job well done by the swat (with there automatic weapons and military grade equipment) and to the entire PD on the west coast!!! God bless the family's that are now suffering the senseless loss of life.

What a sad situation. Whatever drives people to do this is beyond sick - attacking helpless victims. We are thankful that the laws in Nevada allow us to defend ourselves.
I can understand the desire to avoid a rush to judgment on their part. They need to be thorough. It's barely been 24 hours.
For me personally: If it looks like a duck and if it quacks like a duck...
Literally within *minutes* of this event making the news, even well before the shootout with the SUV, my Facebook feed got flooded with posts from all my usual liberal suspects saying all the predictable things: This can't go on, This can't be the new normal, gun violence this, gun violence that, write your congressman, Obama says there's no parallel for this anywhere else in the world.. blah blah blah. You think they could at least wait a couple hours to learn more about what happened before politicizing it?

That's the only thing Obama has done I agree with. Actually nothing they used yesterday vehicle wise was military equipment.

It was a blanket statement because of the high powered rifles swat/special ops used and the bearcat vehicle, I realize there was no real "military" equipment. But a prior conversation thread had to do with all the "newer" tactical gear that is now used in modern policing and how a few feel it's very intimidating to the general public but could give a crap less about how much it helps the people wearing and using it. I don't wanna derail this thread, that topic was beat pretty good.
