San Diego - near Carlsbad - Do you know a great Smog Test place?

Hi all, we moved to SD area (Carlsbad) less than a year ago, so don't know all the "In's and Out's" around here yet...

I need to find a great smog check place near me for cheap, know one?

My wife finally convinced me to part with my beloved '98 Runner, so I need to get it ready to sell.. If you know anyone interested in buying a stock new looking one, it's ready to GO after I get the smog check! I'll write up an Ad later and post in the For Sale area..

Hey thanks, I'm really close to the Encinitas border! Coupon says $40 but also says SUVs "extra". It doesn't say anything about older being extra also, I think '98 has to do extra testing compared to a little bit newer ones.. :redbrick:

I'd say take it to The Truck Shop (Toyota speciality) in Miramar.

FYI under the new rules you have to get it re-smogged at the same shop you originally fail at. So keep that in mind and choose wisely.

I've been going to Miramar 76 for a number of smogs: Automotive Repair in San Diego, CA | Miramar 76

Nothing to rave about but nothing to complain about. Curious what their prices are like compared to The Truck Stop which is where I go for just about everything else I can't do at home.

There is a decent chance (I don't know) that James simply has his guys drive the to be smogged truck down there. I don't know if the truck shop does smog onsite. For example they only recently bought an alignment machine and for years they outsourced that but the end user paid the same price BC the shop got a great volume discount. Also per Truck Shop when they do outsource something (eg an alignment) the outsourced-to-shop actually prioritize the volume business since it is more valuable than Joe Shmo walking in the door.

I took it to a place that offers a free retest if you fail. Just went today and I PASSED no problem. Not bad for 192,000 all original! $46 OTD anddd DONE!

Do you know if The Truck Shop has a bulletin board on the wall for selling trucks? I wouldn't mind putting up an Ad at a Toyota place.. I used to know a VW place that let you do that..
