Don't know what to tell you.... I had this happen to me before (about 20 years ago) on a previous vehicle. And after the shop that had it (quite reputable, I should add) fiddled with it for about a week trying to work the broken plug out, they ended up just pulling the head off and getting it out that way. Then they installed a helicoil.

Sorry I don't have better news, or words of wisdom.

Thanks for the reply, A/V1. I really wish there was an easier alternative to this. But i talked with a shop because i am not too familiar with this engine and he said he was going to charge me $450 for the labor to remove and replace the head. Since I need a new timing belt kit too he said he would do the work on that for free as well. He said the machine shop is going to charge $250 to remove the old plug and clean up the head and re thread that old socket. So im looking at 700 total to install the timing belt kit complete with the water pump and the head R&R with the machine shop price included. Ill link the water pump kit I got. What do you think??? good deal?? It was 200 for the kit including state taxes.... out:
