How come a Shrockworks over a CBI? Good points, bad points, group buy? I was leaning towards a split CBI. thx

Nah, can't ask for something you already know you're going to get. Browning and the Dawgs have this one if they can get an early jump on the Tide. Unless Bama brings their entire fan base with them which is probable, the Dawgs should do OK. I wouldn't consider Georgia "neutral" territory for this game. Hoping for an upset against a huge SEC crowd. You guys on the other hand, if you can get away from the close games and take car of business you should come out on top. Seriously, one-possession margins against the top teams?
BTW a winch is within my reach! Warn 9500 or a 10,000 if it fits in the Shrockworks bumper. That LC is pretty darn awesome. Makes a great template for anyone's build.
EDIT: Leaning towards an M8000 now. I think anything bigger than that would be overkill for what I do.

I have their FB & it's built like a brick shlthouse. They ship in a wood crate & shipping to me is still cheaper than CBI. Adding powder coat is cheap compared to getting it done locally after delivery.
No wobble or negative reviews like CBI. SW customer service is great but I have no prior experience with CBI CS like you do. When all additional items are added up like a gas can holder etc it's not much more than other brands like 4Xinnov, CBI & Savage. (actually IIRC CBI ends up being more expensive than SW) The hi-lift jack mount is built in & not extra. SW has group buys twice a year so that 20% off will put in the price range of cheaper brands. I do like the Savage hybrid 1/2 swingout & still considering it because of it's light weight but it wont match the style of my front bumper. I dont think 30# will make a difference with the S/C. I'm into brand loyalty. I would have bought sliders from them but they dont offer a kick out & they are expensive compared to EVERYONE else LOL.

I am also interested in your selection of Shrockworks over Savage, or CBI. I see the SW being one of the reliable options that you rarely hear complaints about, other than mass and weight.
I thought I saw the big guy in red heading your way with a large crate in tow. Would you go SW to keep with your front bumper theme? What did you do for a spare on your recent trail ride? I skimmed through again but didn't see a reference made. I might have just missed it.
I wouldn't mind checking out some rear bumpers in person though. Maybe if the Seattle area maintenance and meet crew get together soon I will try to link up and introduce myself.
If Santa wanted to bring me an ARB rear locker, that would be cool.

See above answer I just posted. I would go with 4xInnov over CBI because of wobble & price difference.

Great reasons. I'm glad I don't pull the trigger on too many things or become too impulsive on my build. I've been "toying" with the idea of a rear swingout for quite some time. The 1/2 swingout has been very appealing to me ever since I saw it on the Expedition Overland: Central America series. However, the more I think about it, the more I'm starting to believe that "less is more." Too many moving parts, latches, drop out table, etc., increases the probability of nuisance noises and movement.
The other thing that keeps me from jumping on this immediately is the fact that during my last trip I never came close to hitting my spare underneath and never needed the extra gas that I carried. That doesn't mean there may be a time I would need it in the future. The Rotopax carried "OK" on the rack but carrying fuel on a metal roof rack - MEH. (My other thought process for the swingout) There's definitely a tricky balance between NEED and Overkill in Overlanding. I think if there's a takeaway from being a member on this site for anybody it would be - "think through EVERYTHING before you begin your mods."
For now, winch and rear floods, takes priority over swingout. It's still gonna happen...

I like [MENTION=7105]Scramble[/MENTION] justification and logical reasoning for choosing an SW over a CBI. AS you know, I think through a lot of my projects before moving forward with them. I also try and do as much research and learn from others as much as possible so I don't have any regrets later on. So for now there's no huge hurry to get the swingout. I carried a 265/75/16 spare mounted onto one of my original Coke Bottle wheels stuffed underneath, even though I had the 285/17's all the way around. I figured worse case scenario, it would get me into town if I couldn't repair it on the trail. I carried the ARB tire repair kit with me. That's the biggest problem with the 33's. Impossible to stuff a spare underneath. For one day trips locally, I just secure a 33 in the back of the rig and go clean underneath.
