The trim I used is called Door Edge Guard. I picked it up at Pep Boys. It also comes in a few colors, and different shapes and sizes (chrome, red, rounded, flat, etc).

I'm still waiting to see someone with a 2014 black TE . To put a Darth Vader mask in the grille. Because that's what it looks like to me.

I have a question if someone can answer it. I am looking at Harper's post that has all the Toyota 4runner parts diagrammed and listed. If i were going to order a new replacement grille to do this mod (so i don't mess up the one on the truck) is the piece the grille, bumper? that is what it looks like in the manual but its hard for me to tell. (part # 53112-35050)

53101-35060 or 53101-35090 (depending on color) looks like the correct one. the part number you posted shows up as the lower grill.

One thing that the drawing doesn't show is the little triangle piece that goes from back of grille to front of radiator mount. DON'T lose that piece, because it only comes with the complete grille. Of that I'm positive. :doh:

Homer, any plans to try making one for the '14+ trail and sr5 4runner? I would be all in for one for my new trail. Followed your work when I had my '06 tacoma and always loved it. I'd even let you use my new rig to template but I'm not really close enough.

It doesn't really appear to be possible. But I can always swap out the bumper skin with a TRD Pro or plasti-dip to make it look more like it.

I finished up the Grillcraft upper/lower grill mod and "TOYOTA" emblem mod last night. Looking nice IMO Truck is filthy - will post pics next weekend after a detail...

I initially started off with the CustomCarGrills.com "Diamond XXL" mesh a few weeks ago, but quickly decided the Grillcraft grills looked better (use a tighter mesh pattern) and had a more "finished" appearance with the rounded metal frame around the perimeter.

I initially tried using rubber edge dressing type material on the Diamomnd XXL grill, but still wan't sold on the final fit and finish. So out it came, and in went the Grillcraft grills. No regrets (except for I should have gone with the Grillcraft grills from the start! :sad: )

Additionally, the Grillcraft instructions ARE ACCURATE for the lower grill. You can get it out from the FRONT of the truck w/o removing the entire front clip (use a small plastic trim tool from the front of the grill - worked like a charm!). I actually did mine in 2 parts - Upper mods last weekend, and lower mods last night. I didn't even have to remove the upper grill to get to the lower grill! You just need to remove the large plastic radiator trim piece under the hood to access a 10mm bolt and to be able to get your hands down there. I'm SO glad the bottom was as easy as it ended up being (almost put it off until next week, but ended up finishing it in under 30 minutes). Hope this saves someone from removing the entire front clip!

resurrecting this thread......I have been wanting to do this mod for quite a while now and since [MENTION=103267]Saker[/MENTION] hooked us up with some pretty sweet badges I figured I might as well pull the trigger and put them on a nice clean satoshi. Pretty straight forward dis-assembly so far, the corner tabs were a bit of a pain but not that bad. The last pic shows the corner clips, in toystry's write up I believe he said to start with these clips to make it easier....well I don't like to read and I had most of the center clips un-hooked before I read down that far, however for me it seemed to work a bit better, the bumper cover and grille had a bit more flex in it with the center tabs released and I could get my hand in between the air damn and the grill to release the corner tabs. More pics to come, gotta give props to [MENTION=57963]TOYSTRY[/MENTION] and [MENTION=48772]Jesse1983[/MENTION] for the write ups, would have never tried if it wasn't for them.
