Satoshi Grill on '03 question?

I have an '03 SR5 V8 which was my sons car but now that he is in college has become my daily driver since my '13 Outback was run over by a moving truck at a stoplight. I've done some minor mods, but would like to go for the Satoshi grill. I have done several searches and realize that the '03 grill is not easily amenable to the modification. I bought a '06 grill at the recommendations of one poster but then I read where Gaterose posted you cannot use the later grills with the original headlights. Another question I have is the hood release. can I still anchor the hood release on the new grill if I can use the '06 grill. Thanks!

you can use the '06 grille it just has to be shortened and the corners trimmed to clear the headlights. It's a lot of work but there's a picture of sigepbiker's 4runner somewhere with one I built like that.

Save yourself the headache and pay this guy to do it lol, but seriously he is probably one of the best and one of the few willing to do it!

Have Gaterose do it, hes the man. He did a 2006 satoshi grille mod for my 2003 but I have the projector headlights so it fit well, but he did make some custom mods to it for me because of my bumper and winch.

They're usually $350 + S&h (usually runs $15-25) for the '03 grilles. That includes $200 in materials and $150 in labor, but like DCGweez said, there is a pretty long line. It's a lot of work and a PITA in general to do make the '06 grilles fit the '03 and look good, not cobbled together. I'm hoping I can crank a bunch out this winter during some down time.
