Satoshi Mod on 4th Gen?

If you by the Aura grill (the japanese grill replacment) just be aware that its made to order in japan, so it usually takes about two months to arrive at your door step.. its roughly 450 for the 4th gen, and a bit more for the 3rd gen... And another consideration, if you want it to look really good, you would have to have it paint matched somewhere. If your looking to buy it, one of our forum sponsors sells it, Burtman Industries.

No way! My aunt has a '10 limited and I don't like driving it (or the way it looks) as much as my 4th gen. I want to get an 06-09 4WD, hopefully Sport Edition but I may compromise on that depending on other factors.

gaterose, did you find a replacement for your white runner?? And do you know anyone in Bama who would be willing to work with me or make one for me?? Autbond got rid of his before i could talk to him about it...

Yeah, I bought an '03 grille that was in the pictures above then I bought an '06 grille that I have now. Both were white.. I got them on eBay, both with some minor damage that I fixed in the process of doing the Satoshi.

If you ask him he can probably lead you to the one who did it for him. IIRC it was someone he knew personally. I could help or do it for you for the right price. I definitely have some grille mesh I'll sell you for cheap if you like the design I have. It is like $50 for enough to do it but I'd sell you a piece for $20.

Here's the one I have now

The biggest difference with the 03-05 & 06+ is the gap between the bottom grill and bumper. Personally, I do not think the gap looks good. It's been a dilemma for quite a while...

can you please show where that gap is? I have a hard time visualizing where it would be

yea Gaterose, i really like yours. Is the mesh chrome or painted black? First picture shows some reflection on part of the mesh! I'd be willing to pay for that, looks very professionally done. O, and i don't have the defiant or anything so it'll be open to the air and bugs on the road, is all the mesh pretty stable?

I think he is probably talking about the black plastic strip under the grille. It kinda looks like a gap but it's a black plastic strip right under the bottom bar of the grille.

Thanks, the grille is black on mine, guess it was just the way the light hit it in that picture. It looks good for the most part but mine actually needs to be a touched up a bit; that was supposed to be a test fit to see if I liked it. Now that I've figured out that I do I actually need to do a little more sanding & painting. I've just been lazy.

The mesh that I have is probably strong enough to grate cheese on. I didn't buy grille material like most people from customcargrills.com, I used expanded metal from amazon.com, it's very solid.

I have really been considering this mod. I have no experience with any of this or anything like it. Is there a simple write up to this? or someone who can simplify all of this? It seems so confusing to me. Thanks for the help! sorry about my stupidity. :ybrick:

well Thats good to Hear that its not just in danger of being blown out Haha! So how did u work around the hood latch?? Did u have to modify that in any way?

thinking of making a satoshi grill and putting a galactic gray mica grill on titanium metallic 4runner. has anyone done this or have any thoughts on using a different color grill. i saw that some tacomas have a different color grill and i think it might look good.
