I had to take a short trip from NJ to Long Island last night. What pleasure it was to just to just drive without worrying about missing an exit. I used to hate going anywhere over there because you have to keep up with the traffic and god help you if you missed a turn/exit. It was like a walk in the park!

Yeah my Garmin portable Navi unit has saved me a few headaches already. I've also let my mom and dad used it on a trip and they were able to get there with no problems and they are not tech savy

My nav unit has saved me and given me shortcuts that I never knew of. Having nav gives you a great feeling of security!

I even use the thing to get to Fire/EMS calls- sometimes it takes too long to find the satellites, but when it finds them right away, it is pretty nice to be able to focus on responding to the call, driving, the radio, etc. instead of looking at a map!

I have a Garmin on my bike. I use it all the time to find gas stations. I only have a 175 to 200 mile range with a 30 mile reserve and have found myself on so many unknown roads. It's also great for top speed recording. I won't post my top speed for the bike, I think some people would get upset. Once I was up near Danbury Connecticut and hit my reserve in a hail storm. I found this little gas station about 3 miles off a main road in the middle of NOWHERE!

You're complaining about that kind of range on your bike? Mine is lucky to hit 110 before I need to switch to reserve.

I carry my GPS around with me when I go riding too, just in case my exploration skills outdo my navigation skills which happens a lot.

I can get anywhere from 110 to 250 miles depending on my right hand! On the highway going 55 mph I got 46 mpg. Being a MADMAN I get less then 20. I have a 5.5 gal tank. I average about 25/30 mpg.
