ScanGauge II owners - Intake Air temps

I want to see your F° IA temps to compare the various types of intakes you guys have.

I have an Injen CAI and want to see what other ScanGauge owners are seeing from the Stock Air Boxes and other brands of after market intakes.

My Injen, has not gotten above 75 degrees lately while driving around in town with frequent stops at traffic lights. That's with the ambient temp around 50 to 58 degrees.
Typically, while driving around 50 MPH or faster it stays within 10 degrees above the ambient temp.

Here's pics I took about 15 miles into my daily drive to work this morning. Ambient temp was around 32 F°

BTW. .. After my tune up Tuesday I'm getting 4-5 mpg more. Not bad for running 285, E weight tires.... :

BFAD, is familiar with the route I take to work. All the way down Tramway to 4th Street and these pics were taken at the first traffic light on Alameda west of 4th Street.

I have the aeroforce scangauge and the Volant CAI. I've only had the gauge for a few days but So far i havent seen it go over 10 degrees of what the outside temp is. This is at idle or cruising too.

I'll try and snap some pics; however, There is a video I just posted in my build thread that shows it at 59, it was about 50 to 54 outside and I only drove around the block.

Mine is usually no more than 5* above outside temps. It's so close I use it more as a thermometer than anything else.
I don't know what the highest temp I've seen is, but I've seen my intake at -10 at the lowest since I've had it.

BTW… I smoked that milage. Yes I was legitimately driving my 4runner. Once you install a Mr. Fusion Flux Capacitor these milage numbers are possible.:zoom:

Ok. So 6 hours of driving that netted me an average of 20.68 mpg


Oh yeah, the temps..
So for the ambient air temps, I used my JDM field monitor unit. The temp sensor is right behind the lower valence of the bumper and it reads in Celsius.

When I left at 6 am, the temps read -10*C (14*F) For the first 10 mins or so, my intake temp was around 20*F.

For the next 3 hours on the highway, the ambient temps ranged from about -5*C to 0*C (about 25*F to 32*F). And the intake temps were within about 10 degrees F of that. NOT ONCE did I see the intake temps go above 40*F.

The same is true for the drive home. Stayed within 10 degrees of the ambient temps which were about 0*C the whole time.

I have seen my intake temps sometimes as 50* or more than the outside temps (when wheeling slowly)(stock airbox). I think I have seen intake temps of over 100* when it was ~30* outside (wheeling again).

I think that the inner fender (where the air intake is) and all of the intake under the hood heats up when crawling which raises the temps.

I may have a problem with my MAF/IAT

Shows up as 0.0AVG under gauges.


Also, tell us what kind of intake you have. That's the whole point of this to compare the different types of intakes being used...

I keep hearing how CAIs are nothing more than Hot air Intakes but that's not what I'm seeing with my Injen CAI.

Where ALBPM has 1465, I have 14.65. Not sure which code I used though...

Did you leave the "/" out of the name?? It seems each gauge is allowed to have 7 characters. Since I named mine A/F there is no room for the decimal.
