Scangauges can read trans temps depending on the year of your 4runner. 99+ will work but 96-98 will not

A search of the forum would yield about 10+ threads on exactly this topic (which came up when I was looking up IACV programming info). But yeah 99+ only for trans temp.

I need to get better at search, because I did try searching trans temp and scangauge and came up with links that did not take me there. Of course, that was long before coffee
so I apologize
and thank you for the link and information

woooo hoooo
just scored a scangauge 2
was telling my son about it and how I want to get one
he had one he is not using anymore, was in his old Tacoma
( he now has a big dodge diesel dually and is running other gauges in it)
wont be able to put it in for a few days
wooo hoooo :biggrin2:

Your scangauge will also have to have the correct version of programming on it. I don't recall what version it is, but other threads have this info. Scangauge will program it for you for free if it doesn't.

its a scangauge 2
did not know they were programed for individual cars if im reading your post correct

No, they are not programmed for individual cars. It's the software version that the gauge is running on. Like Windows 8 vs Windows XP, for example, and I am talking about the SG2.

thanks

I find best search results come from googling "3rd gen 4runner .... whatever topic or question" instead of searching within the forum.
