Scanguage: Worth it?

I'm looking at getting a scanguage, I'm really just deciding if it's worth the money or not, so I wanted to hear what you all think before I decide to pull the trigger or not.

I have an Ultra-Gauge, and I think it's very similar to the Scangauge, except the SG can display tranny temp. Get a 2nd opinion on that, cuz I can't remember if I'm right.

I like having mine cuz it helps me to diagnose problems and saves a potential trip to the garage or Vatozone to have them read my codes. For instance, I keep showing a p0116 I would never know about unless I had my own gauge. I got my UG for 80$ shipped, so no complaints.
 
Yep what CJ80 says, I think the Ultragauge looks a lot better and has a nicer interface than the Scangauge for less than 1/2 the price...
 
yeah I just saw the Ultra-Gauge and indeed the trans temp is the only thing the scangauge does differently... and the UG looks better IMO. Gonna order that today- thanks a bunch guys!
 
Very happy with my Ultra Gauge. Helps me keep my MPGs in check! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend one to a friend. Actually had a friend borrow mine so he could figure out the codes he was throwing.
 
Will the Scanguage II show transmission temps on a '99 or newer 4runner? I see the code listed on Scangauge's site that would be used but I don't see a vehicle compatibility chart.

Sucks that there doesn't appear to be one for the Iphone that's decent.

I'd love that because I have an old Itouch that could stay in the vehicle all the time too.

Diesel programers are using Iphones/phones now too =(

If you have a 96-98 the OBDII doesn't have a trans temp sensor. Which means the Scangauge II won't be able to read that, making the Ultragause just as good for those years. And at less than half the cost, a better deal.
If you have a 99-02, the Scangauge will read tranny temps, Ultragauge will not. So if you want tranny temps, you'd need to buy the Scangauge.
 
Exactly what Millerad said. I have a '99 and have the Scangauge instead of the Ultragauge because of the added bonus of the trans temp sensor. If you don't need it or don't want it, get the Ultragauge and save a few bucks

Hahaha I read your post and automatically knew you lived in Cali!! I don't think anyone else refers autozone as vatozone! It's sad but true... It really is where the vatos go

It basically means "Dude" in Spanish.

I bought the Ultragauge back 13 months ago when they were back ordered and offered a deal on them.
Got it for $63.21 total shipped to the door.
So I couldn't see spending $100 more for just the tranny temp, plus I like the Ultragauge better for everything else anyway.
