Scanner software

Hey everyone. I'm wondering if there is any available scanner software similar to VAG. I'm essentially just looking for the software because I already have a cable. I've seen some stuff on techstream but saw issues with the software only working on systems up to XP. I have Mac and PC (running windows 7) and have a 99' 4runner with the 2.7L.

I appreciate any input!

Ha. Can't believe I haven't seen this all this time. VAG stands for Volkswagen Audi Group. It's diagnostic software they use. I ended up getting techstream and cable as it is different than the Volkswagen setup. And for anyone that runs across this there is a thread out there that walks you through installing techstream and driver content on windows 7 & 8 64bit systems. So don't be discouraged when you think it won't work on your laptop

VAG actually stands for Volkswagen-Audi Gelelschaft. Gelelschaft is German for association.
You're talking about Vag-Com, the diagnostic software Ross-Tech designed and sells.
I was sad when my Ross-tech dongle wouldn't work for my 4runner too

I use Torque Pro app with a Elm327 adapter. Gets all codes on ANY obd2 vehicle so its really handy.

No where near as powerful as vagcom though.
