Sorry in advance if you don't want this kind of discussion, but what is everyone planning to use to hold/mount these? Do you all have read bumpers that will? I have done a lot of searching on this and other forums and am finding that most aftermarket holders (front runner, for example) are designed for the NATO and won't work with these unless you modify them. Thoughts? I understand the benefits of plastic, but there are also drawbacks, so I'm sort of reconsidering. Thanks!

Who said they don't fit in NATO mounts? These are designed to fit perfectly in them.

I have two mounted in my CBI fuel can carrier, as does [MENTION=124732]LawnDart[/MENTION] (borrowed a pic from you!). They seem to fit just fine to me...

Have you ever used the metal NATO cans? I have - they are shit. The Scepter cans are not your garage gas can variety. These things are beefy. These were designed for military use in austere environments (aka "joe" proof for the military types).

Just search - plenty of examples. Including the Front Runner mounts, as I mentioned. It generally has to do with the height and locking latches not fitting over Scepter cans because they're designed for NATO cans and the dimensions aren't identical.

All I can say is they fit fine for me on my CBI bumper gas can carrier. You can always lash them down on your rack, modify a carrier, or build your own. It looks as if plenty of people made it work to be carried on a roof rack.

You might have to use a non-FrontRunner mount if you don't want to modify the NATO mount, but it looks like there are plenty of options for securing them on your roof rack.

Thanks for the detailed reply. It confirms what I found and added a few more. I'm still going to get the Scepter cans and go one of these routes, or fab something up myself. It's not exactly super complicated to make.
