Scion Radios

As you can see and some know I'm pretty new to this forum and I have a lot of questions being a new 4Runner owner. I see where people are swapping the stock 4R HU for the Scion units. I'm curious if the 1806 and 1807 Scion HU are direct plug n play or if any mods are needed I looked on ebay and the 1807 units aren't too exspensive and I love the mp3 capabilities in my other car so I would definatley like to know if the 1807 is direct pnp. Thanks for all the help guys.

Yup the 1807 unit is direct plug and play.

There's one minor modification you can make if you want to. The 4runner HU has two antenna plugs for the two that exist. The Scion HU has one (the main) antenna plug. You can just plug in the main antenna cable and tape up the second cable in the 4runner and leave it at that, or you can expose the second plug on the Scion HU that exists behind a thin metal plate above the main plug. It's pretty easy to just bend the metal back and snip it off.

change my HU?

whats the difference between the 1804 and the 1807? i have an 1804, works perfect, mp3 playback is sweet, and sounds great. but with all this talk about the 1806 and 1807, makes me wonder if i sold myself short by not getting the 1807. whats the difference and is it worth the hassle swapping out my 1804 with an 1807?

I think they all offer pretty much the same feature list (the 1807 adds WMA support) so it's just about looks really. The 1806 adds a few "cool" features, but nothing worth fretting about IMO. I got the 1807 just cuz I liked the center knob better than buttons.
