Scion T1808 Install

I just bought a Scion T1808 headunit and looking through the write ups here I'm getting lost in the reading.

Was I wrong in my thinking when I bought it that all I would need to do is trim a little plastic and plug it up?

you should only have to trim the sides of the console opening. Use the harness that plugs into the back of the OE amp to plug into the back of the T1808. Other then that it really is a plug and play install. Then press the SSP button to set the vehicle type from Tc to XD and the amp to the "feel". Enjoy
 
I've posted in the electronics section but just trying to get a quick answer if anyone knows. What kind of connector do I need for the T1808 to connect to my MP3 player.

I skimmed through them but the one by COFlyfisher or whatever the username is, was more than I'm willing to attempt...atleast the homemade auxillary cable part.

I'm looking for something a little more plug'n play but that seems to be expensive. Not sure what I'll end up doing.
 
i use an ipod with mine

the SC 12333 cable plugs right into the AUX plug on the back of the HU. I ran the cable under the center console with it coming out in the storage hole next to the parking brake.

That's about as plug and play as they come man... Literally plugs into the back of the unit, then you run a cord from it to wherever you want your mp3 player.

Yeah, that input adapter you posted would be super easy...just saying I don't know that I use my MP3 player enough to justify paying that much money.

I know, this coming from the guy that started the thread about buying a snorkel, LOL.
 
So I started installing the scion T1808 about an hour ago. Got the old radio out, ground the tips off the mounting brackets so they would bolt up to the T1808, and went to put it in. That's when I noticed the scion unit wouldn't fit.....I'm NOT talking about trimming the plastic surround but it's the bottom 2 bolt holes that aren't even close to reaching the bracket. Any ideas?

I may have gotten a stereo that wont fit....maybe I should have gotten the T1806???

It was getting dark on me and I heard the babies crying so I went back inside to help out. It may be something stupid I overlooked since I haven't had a chance to go back out.

Not sure if its the same, but when I installed my T1809 I had to remove the stock amp. If you leave the stock amp in there it wont fit


otherwise its a direct bolt-in
 
Maybe that's my problem then. I'll go out and check it out....this really makes me wish I had one of those LED kits so I can see what I'm doing.

I hear ya, trimming the bezel was a total PITA and it was more trouble then it was worth IMO. If I had to do it all over again I would have just saved some money and bought a double din that was a direct fit
 
best of luck man. if it doesn't fit I can offer advice on how to rock the older alpine units. I'm running a 2004 with tilt :)
 
sorry I didnt mean to hijack the thread but yes it does have FAR superior sound to any scion model, even the one made by Alpine. Specifically 109db signal to noise ratio and 4v pre-outs. The only model out there with similar specs is the Excelon series.

I found out what the problem was this morning. It was some of the plastic on the face plate that was hitting the dash and keeping the unit from sliding back. Trimmed it off with my dremel tool and now on to trimming the bezel.
 
So I have it completely installed but the guy I bought it from left a CD in there and it won't come out. I hope that's not why he left it in there and there is come kind of a step I need to do to get it to work.

Any idea's?
