Scion Tc?

Looking into getting a scion tc. I'll miss runner sooo much, but i want something with a little more kick, and speed. im 17!... haha.

Anybody familiar with these cars and can help me choose the right one?

Get a Scion FR-S. Prices aren't too bad and if you are looking for speed, these are where its at. I believe top gear or one of the car shows rated them the most fun to drive. Good luck in your search.

Would if i could, but they are a little out of my price range!
 
tC is a decent little runabout. If you get the 6MT, it will be fun. The FR-S is an absolute blast, but it really is a handful and I could see a young driver getting into trouble with it. Oddly enough, my coworker and I swapped my Prius for his FR-S tonight so I can get the wife acclimated to having one in the garage. :)
 
I'd keep the runner. It's much more practical. Plus the FR-S is fairly slow, it's the handling where that car shines.

Or you could but a 4th gen like mine with a V8 and have all the speed you need, I'm 18 and its plenty fast for me. It runs a 6.6 second 0-60.

New tc's seem nice. They sound and look pretty good. RS I really like but I dont really think they are fast tho. I'd also have to suggest you upgrade to a 4th gen 4Runner. Look up the vids of 4th gens. We smoke a good amount of cars out there tbh. ;)
 
V6 Mustang would be a good contender ($22k new), it'll blow the slushbox only 4th gen 4runner out of the water, and put the FWD Scion in its place. FR-S is expensive and doesnt have much power, and the power it does have is not low end.

I'm actually in a similar situation, but I'm keeping the 4Runner.

I need 4 REAL seats that are large enough for my 6' 2" to fit in.

My contenders:
Ford Focus ST (Winner so far)
Scion tC
VW GTI

I have my eye on, in my words, The Perfect 4Runner! If i dont go through with the buy, i might end up getting a tc.
 
Get an mr2 turbo. Those things can be crazy fast and they aren't horribly expensive.
If you are looking for something bigger, I'd take a wrx over a scion anyday.

Everything I've read is high 7 range for a 4th gen V8. IIRC, in a dead sprint, it is no faster than a 5th gen V6.

The FR-S is a quick car. It just doesn't feel particularly quick until 4500rpm. Definitely has a better low end than an S2000, so it is easy to drive it like a sane person. It is so much fun you don't want to drive it like a sane person, though. I had the pleasure of swapping my v for one yesterday with a coworker. Somehow my round trip commute was about 15 miles longer. Funny how that happens.

My wife has an 07 tC. It's a 5 speed.

Stock, it was not much fun to drive... I didn't care for it, atleast. The road noise is nearly unbearable, and the seats suck for a drive longer than an hour.

I put TRD Springs/Struts, TRD Exhaust, a TRD Sway bar and nice tires on it and it handles like it's on rails now. It's quite fun to drive. It's not fast, by any means. My 4Runner would eat it alive. (That said, it also has its way with V8 4th Gens =p)

The tC still sucks on long drives. I had to sound deaden the whole car to mellow down the road noise. It made a big difference, but it's still LOUD compared to the 4Runner.

All in all, I would not recommend a 1st gen tC. The gas mileage is not that great, the ride sucks, and it's slow. Handling with a few mods? Quite fun.

The 2nd gen tC is not much better. In my opinion they're ugly as sin. On back roads I have "raced" a friend on some back roads his 2nd vs my wifes 1st. I kill him every time (I am a better driver, and his is stock...) That said, I do enjoy that 6th gear for freeway cruising.



Cliffs-
Wife has a tC. Handles very well, is slow, gets MEH gas mileage, I don't like it.
I want to get her in a Prius, is250, or a ct200h in the next year.

"Slush box" 4th gen when yet you don't own one...... Makes a lot of sense John.
