hey there folks, sitting on a flat tire and need to get this baby off the ground. i've only got the standard scissor jack (not included with the vehicle), and i'm a little reluctant to place the jack anywhere underneath as the truck sits high enough already and this little bitty thing isn't going to cut it by standard means. i searched and found little results, placing it under the rear diff pumpkin, or lowest point on the axle closest to the tire, etc. these are the 2 methods i'm going to attempt, but if anyone knows of a better jacking point when using scissor jacks please let me know.

You should always jack from under the axle to change a flat regardless of jack type or vehicle. Did you look under the rear passenger seat for the factory bottle jack? Either way jack under the axle and change the tire. Better yet jack under the axle and then put a jack stand under it while you get the tire changed.
i didn't think to check under the rear passenger seat, that would solve my problems immediately if there is a bottle jack. anywhere low enough to support the weight had no wiggle room for me to use the scissor jack. thanks for the headsup, i've got a buddy coming over with a floor jack to help me out.
All the factory tools are under the bottom of the rear passenger seat.

If you are changing a rear tire, like they said, under the axel. But if you are changing a front tire (with independent suspension) place it under the lower control arm.

haha thanks, unfortunately i didn't get an owners manual. the one i found online didn't have a section for lifting the car. but i did find the bottle jack under the back seat. thanks a lot for that tip, save my buddy a trip out here and saved me some $$.

3rd Gen Forum > "Master Directory of Informational Threads" > 'Reference Guides' > 'Owners & Service Manuals' has a link to the Toyota website from which you can download an owner's manual, and a link to the FSM including the wiring diagrams. I have all three on my laptop and phone. I recommend this. I reference the FSM often. Having it readily at hand is good.
i followed the link but i still can't find the section for jack lifting the car 
bottle jack worked great, placed it right under the axle - no jack stand needed. i can't thank y'all enough for the tip, i had no idea the gear was under the rear seat and the seat was a little crooked too.

I also keep a 6x6 inch section of wood (2x 6) next to the jack. The jack lifts OK on level ground but the side of the road is rarely that good and the wood gives a little extra height if needed and more support for the base of the jack.
