Scrapes on paint.. hard to fix or not?

So my 5 year old tore the hell out of the back of my truck with a garden tool trying to get his ball off the top of the vehicle. :frusty:

Any paint and body experts here? Ideas on how expensive this is going to be to fix?

It is hard to tell from picture on how deep those are. If not bad try scratch remover compound followed by polish and wax. If all the way to primer, you may have to re-spray it. Don't get mad though, we all done something like that when kids. Minor issues. I had a dent in tailgate that had to be fixed and whole thing resprayed. Local bodyshop did it for $800. Yours without dents, just sand and spray should cost half of that. GL

Well I stopped by a big local body shop for an estimate and they said it would be around $600ish to fix the damage. I'm meeting with my insurance adjuster on Friday morning to see if it's worth filing a claim or not. If I can have it fixed under insurance without my rates going up, then I'll let them handle it.

it may not be salvagable, but try talking to a good detailer. Someone who takes real pride in his work. I used to know a guy in Dallas that with the right polishing and other stuff he did (don't ask me, the guy was a magician with this stuff), he could fix a lot of cosmetic damage. But like I said, that might be beyond the help of a detailer.

If you run your finger nail over them and it catches a little then u know it more than likely is through the color and primer. Looks like it from pics. If so only paint will make them go away.

Local large body shop fixed the damage and repaired the clips that hold my bumper cover on. Charged me $450 cash which did not include new emblems on the tailgate. I just put a T4R.ORG decal on the tailgate and left it as-is.

They had to sand it down and spray it to make it look right again.
