Scratch Problems Big Time!!

ok so i went crazy offroading in my car this weekend after i let the mud dry for the night since it was really really late...

well girls at school decided it would be funny to write stupid stuff on my car( not going to say what they put on it since some of it is inappropriate)... well what they dont know is that after i washed my car, what they wrote STAYED IN MY CAR AS SCRATCHES!!!

i bought some TECH WAX hoping it will buff out the scratches... have yet to use it because i need to wash my car for round 2 tomorrow but going to wax it very very soon though

what im getting at is anyone that has used this TECH WAX have any problem with this? how reliable is this stuff? WILL IT TAKE THE RIDICULOUS WRITING OUT OF MY CAR? if this stuff doesnt work anyone have the same problem as me? or have any other products to get the writings out of my car... PLZ HELP!!!

Any polish should get the scratches out. Preferably you would do this with a buffer type tool but you can also do it by hand with a lot of work. After polishing the truck make sure you wax/seal it and your done.

well i just hand waxed it rite now and its still there!!! anyways im going to rewax it with a tool buffer this weekend at my friends house and if that doesnt work im going to ask another friend where he got his buffed out ( he had the same problem as me before)... he said he got it done professionally... that just more $$$ to spend...booo

Wax won't remove scratches. You need to use a polishing or micro-finishing rubbing compound, something with a little bit of abrasive in it. Best to use by hand.

what kind of micro polishing finished rubbing compound should i go buy? please give a list of choices of what is really good to use and what is really bad to use thanks

I'm no expert on this, but I had good results on my 90 4Runner (paint was getting dull looking and had some minor scratches) using cheapo Turtle Wax polish. I think I paid $2 for it at Walmart.
Just that alone made a big difference. Then after that I used 3M Finesse-it II Finishing compound and it came out really nice. Couple of people asked if I had it re-painted.

The Turtle Wax stuff is probably crap but it worked OK for me. 3M products are considered the best but are pricey.

Whatever you do, just try it in a small inconspicious place first. And make sure you completely remove any polish/compound before waxing, or it makes a mess. I used a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water (50/50) to remove the polish residue before using the finishing compound and then again before waxing.

aite thanks a bunch, i went out today and bought some "nu finish scratch doctor clear coat scratch remover (advanced micro technology) its rated at #1 so lets hope this works... or im screwed...
if anyone have any experience with this product plz foretell

try meguiers scratch X. it will and does work for minor scratchs..
