Scratched boyfriend's dash

As far as I know, there really isn't any real fix. You can put a dash cover on it but that just covers it up. If you're good with fabrication you can re-cover it.
If all else fails, let him know how much you care about him and do something that will take his mind off of it :banana:

I'll try to post a picture toinght. Haha nothing like that was going on when the scratch was inflicted. Its not in perfect condition, but he likes to keep it neat looking and wants it fixed. I've tried two toyota dealers, a random auto repair shop, and a car dealership I used to work at but no one so far can point me in any direction other than "its gonna be expensive" or "you usually can't repair dashboards you just have to replace it", so I figured I'd give it a shot and come on here to talk to the experts since I don't know the first thing about this stuff, and don't want to get ripped off if there's an easier fix. Thanks for the input!

scratches happen... its an old truck. I'll admit I know someone that got divorced because he loved his truck so much. it was my inspirational 4runner that made me buy one. then the key got stuck in the ignition and it had to be replaced. trust me it wasn't a clean job.

just stick a band aid on it. seriously. I think it will make him feel better about it.

If he is so serious about a scratch to his truck, he better stop letting people near his things. This is stupid beyond belief! Show him this thread and here is what I say to him directly... "Seriously dude! It's a flipping scratch! Pull your head out of your... butt... and hope your girl friend forgives you for this stupid attitude you have over a truck!"

Lol, I have to say.. If its a small scratch, oh well. My 4runner gets scratched even when I try to take care of it. Stuff happens. I agree with the gentlemen here when they tell you to either find a way for him to put on his bigboy britches with some rough sex or something, or just tell him to suck it up period. If you feel that bad, you can just get a new dash piece. There are reasonable prices for them, or go to the salvage yard or craigslist. You can actually find nice ones for cheap.

Accidents happen, and it is almost 15 years old! I'm sure that is not the only scratch on the 4R (in or out). I think your post shows you are sorry and put effort into trying to get it fixed....and I would end it there. My wife is 5'1, her high heels have scratched my rockers, so I purchased a set of RR sliders and grip taped them to help her get in. Sure, I hate to see the scratches (even though I fixed them as best I can), she did not do it on purpose. Unless you dug a knife into his dash during an argument I would just forget about it. If it is a problem and he cares more about the 4R than you, well count yourself lucky you found it out early. Best of luck!
