Screens for windows while camping in the back

Anyone got any DIY ideas for putting mesh screens onto the rear window and 2nd row windows. Also anyone got any ideas for enabling the rear window to go up and down without dislodging the screen?

For reference, my rig is a 2003.

I've honestly never thought about this. Like this is a brilliant idea. I've always wanted to sleep in the back whilst camping but the Mosquitos down here are treacherous! Let me know how this goes!

Google it... I saw DIY screens installed on an overland 4R build on another website ( forget which one) and I'll search later for it again when at my computer. I think the guy folded the screen material around magnets and then glued the screen to the magnets

forget the screens, do vip style use curtains.

If you have happen to have a sunroof, it's a perfect place to cover with a screen (using magnets).

As far as the rear window (and others), they can be covered by screens on the outside using magents while retaining the ability to go up and down.

Very low tech, but very easy and workable.

was going to say the same thing about magnets.

If you really wanted to get fancy you could get the magnetic strips and actually stitch them into a tuck all the way around the screen so you can just unroll it and place it over the window

CYi5 bought them a while back but bought the ones for the 01+ CR-V and he reported they worked great. I do however see they make them for the 3rd gens. I don't know how recent they were added or if anyone has tried them. You can be the FIRST! Toyota Forerunner/Hilux/Surf 2001-On Window SOX - Window Sox USA & Canada

There's that.

Edit: Try using a bag or something made of that material athletic shorts are made of?

Just did this last night
Bought a roll of 36x84
Measure overall length and width for planning
Just enough to do the sunroof and front two windows without creative layout.
Cut 40" for the sunroof, cut for width. Spare leftover.. maybe use to patch holes or for a slightly lowered 2nd row window.
The remaining 36x45 cut in half is enough for both front windows

2x 10-packs of small rare earth magnets, wrap them with bright painters tape to reduce their strength and help if you drop them into the dirt.

Testing them out this weekend, but mockup in driveway was pretty easy. Secure corners and every 10" or so, tape off the sides, should be quick.
