SCRunner's Build Thread

:thumb3: Nice work SCRunner12.

I definitely think it looks better than it did before. I think the ideal solution would have been to color match the flares/cladding to the truck, but having recently looked into color matching the flares on my wife's '00, I know that job is not cheap.

Hopefull the finish holds up well for you.

This looks SOOOOOOO much better!

Way to go man. Only thing you will have to worry about in the future is black paint fade; other than that it looks great.

i dig it! still a pavement queen tho lol

Yeah yeah. It will stay a pavement queen as well. I'm torn between putting more money into armor for it or saving up for a 1st gen. I eventually plan on making a 1st gen my wheeling rig and this the DD/occasional expedition trail rig. The 1st gen is a couple years out though so who knows what will happen. I don't want it to end up like your 4runner after the Fordyce trip. ;):

I'm digging the new colour combo too man! Good job.

Very nice, looks clean! :thumb3:

Thanks! It's been on the back of my mind for a while, but finally materialized into something.

I have thought about that before and ended up not liking it as much. I've seen a few 02 Sunfire Sports and IMO they are a bit much with the red. I like a little black to contrast the red. Here's a google search for Bamachem's old 4runner (he must have deleted all his old pics because I can't find any to link here). https://www.google.com/search?q=bam...Q&biw=1600&bih=730&sei=YWXFT6i6NuOVsQK4-MXwCQ He painted it all red and it looks good, but as you said expensive and I wanted a little contrast.

This is also a temporary fix and may go all red down the line.

Yeah I figured I would have to touch it up down the line. I might look into a real paint job in the next 6-8 months since I like the look, but other mods take priority. We'll see how the long term end up being. I'd love a paint job like yours. Damn it's nice.

i would save up 10k for a 1st gen and mods, let's be realistic your 4runner will never be a wheeler, so what's the point of putting tons of armor on it, just have enough so you can at least go to places like hollister.

Really dig the black compared to the grey. Looks great. What about a red accent on the wheels? That could look pretty cool.

10k is going to be a long time. My plan is to either find an 84 or 85 that needs some work and make it an ongoing project. Or I will go for an 88 or 89 with a V6 and a bad motor. Then I could drop a 3.4 in and eventually supercharge it and SAS. These plans are a couple of years out since I don't have the financials or space for such projects. I'd love to molest my 3rd gen, but it's my DD and I plan on getting a 2nd gen Tacoma or 1st gen DC Tundra at some point in the future. Once my fiance is done with school and working it will start to fall into place.

Thanks! I thought about that, but I'm not sure where to accent the wheels. Any ideas? I had thought about doing a ring of red, but it might be too much. Plus I will probably upgrade my rims at some point.

What about in the center section of each spoke? Not sure if it would look good or tacky. Might be one of those things you do to one wheel to see if you like it and if so, then do the rest.

Well here's my expert photoshop skills for your idea. If you need any kind of photoshop help let me know. I have mad skills. :nono:

This is with the current wheel color, but I'll be painting them black soon.

Hahahaha! You still get the idea, which is nice. I don't know for sure, but I think it would look pretty cool on black!

Ehhhh, that's debatable.. I think LX450 wheels look great the way they are. But to each his own lol. I'd mock it up before you go through with doing it though. I don't know if they make red plasti-dip but you could use that on one wheel. If you don't like it peel it off.

I wouldn't put that much red in.... maybe something like I did with my split spokes.... just on the small writing... and a Silver ring on the outer edge?? That's what I would do if I had LX or LC wheels... just can't find a set around here for sale! lol!

Yeah it's not really my style. I'm kind of a plain person so that is a bit much for me.

That is a tough combo to pull off, either will look dope and one of a kind....OR....look like the rims the broke rapper has on a his challenger.

I agree with fightman, a thin red ring would be nice!

robert! dont be a fuking ricer!

Don't worry I wasn't going to do it. I like plain wheels and that is way too much rice for me. I thought about doing the Toyota symbol on the center cap, but I'm not sure.

Head up to your cabin soon, all the trails around here are open now! And I'll get us a boat from work to do some fishing if your into that stuff.
