First off the build updates...I got some time and installed my Superflex coils this weekend. I didn't realize how long they were and ran into a little snafu when installing. I had to remove everything and disconnect everything just to get the drivers side in. Spring compressors would have been super helpful, but I did get them in. I also replaced my stock bumpstops for the "junkyard" bumpstops from a 90's Chevy Trailblazer. I didn't cut them down yet as I need to see where they hit, but cutting them is super easy.
My first impressions of the superflex coils is they are a good amount shorter than my Downey coils. About .5" which I wasn't expecting. It's not a bad thing, but I'm at about 23.5" in the back now, where I was at 24" before. I also noticed my ride has softened up some. I never complained about the Downey coils, but the ride is softer/smoother now. I really liked the Downey coils when loaded with weight, but I don't have plans for more rear weight at this time, so the superflex coils will work better.
Horrible pic of the bumpstops and coils, I will get some pics of the final stance when I get home.
I also picked up a pair of spidertrax spacers from Hepar. I've been needing them to clear the UCA at full droop and now I can take my rig wheeling. Thanks again Hepar!
Ok now the big update. For anyone who has been following my thread you'd probably notice I buy a lot of parts and then change my mind and sell them. Some due to money contraints and others due to changing plans on my build. I've sold two tube bumpers, 2 sets of spacers, 2 coilovers, sport hood, numerous tires and wheels and a bunch of little things. Something is wrong with me, but O well I love it. That leads me to my most recent purchase. I just got a 4.88 rear diff from 4-Ripcord with the plans of gaining some power back. I was dead set on doing this and had plans to get my front regeared by August. Well a quick craiglist search and that all changed....I now present my next project...
Picked this beauty up today. It is a 2nd gen Supercharger with 10k on it. I found it on one of my random supercharger search throughout the country. Ended up being in Pennsylvania and VERY reasonably priced. The guy took his truck into the dealership because he was boosting too much. Toyota took the s/c off and put a new one on thinking it was the problem. Ended up being a valve and he was left with a spare s/c. Unfortunately it doesn't have any of the hardware so that is the one downside. I'll have to source the parts, but for the price it was worth it. He will be shipping it tomorrow and I'll hopefully have it by next week.
I will be running it stock with some IK22 plugs for a while. I can't afford any of the additional kits right now and I don't plan on pushing it hard (that much). Eventually I'll go the URD route, but that will have to wait. I know some people frown on that, but it's what my budget will allow right now. I'm hoping to have all the parts by August as there is a TW mod day and Jerry from BAMF can help me install it since he's done his already. I've been reading up on BFAD's post in Rickashay's thread as to what I need. It's going to be a pain, but worth it in the end...
