SCS ray10 with -38 offset

Ok, so here is my feedback on -38s and 295/70/17 on my '18 TRDP

Swapped out my TRDP wheels and 285s and moved up in tire size, here is what I've experienced so far

Mods:
1" level spacer up front
Removed mudflap
Fender Liner Mod

Normal driving is a relatively no issue, the only rubbing I have is on the front bumper, just need to trim it 1/2" and it'll be fine. No rub on the BMC at full lock (no articulation), but it just barely hits the rocker valance at a very specific point.

Again, this was just driving around town and normal driving conditions.

Do you have bmc ?

I have have Ray 10s in -10 and here’s my experience of what I needed to do fit:

BFG KO2 in 275/70/17
-Front bumper trimmed
-Pushed fender liners
-Heat gun to reshape inner mud flap

Falken Wilkpeak MT in 295/70/17
-BMC
-More front bumper trimmed
-Rocker panel cover trimmed
-Pinch weld folded out
-Inner fender liner trimmed

I’ve since added 1” spacers up front after getting gusseted spindles, and need to do more trimming. Results will vary.

A lift doesn’t solve rubbing issues; you’ll end up rubbing under compression.

This article covers what’s needed for bigger tires pretty well:

These are not my pics. It’s a local guy who got bmc and also has -38mm wheels w/ 285/70/17. He claims no rubbing at full lock reverse. Only the stock bm is mine.

Still got pics of my BMC? Post those up so others can see how much need to be cut.

For everyone else - I'll say this again: SCS wheels with a -38mm offset will need a BMC.

Interesting. The last time I requested a step-cut was 1991 at the barbershop.

Looks like you can get an extra eighth to quarter of an inch right there.

I have a 19 TRD ORP with KDSS. I put on -38 F5's. I had to do the BMC, remove fender, and front fender liner relocate and plastic trim to fit stock tires with no rubbing. I just did a 2.5" lift and 275's and had to trim more plastic. I think if I go any bigger on tires I'll have to cut the rocker valance and probably some metal behind it.

I didn't request it... the shop simply did it, which I'm guessing was based on experience. I'm happy with it - gives me allowance to go larger.

i had ray 10s -10 that were so easy to fit. then i moved to another brand with -8 and added 1.25" spacers ~40mm offset. took so much more work to get it to fit. BMC was a must and then some.

Got any pics ? How long did it take to look fragile ?

I can try and take pics later. I bought the wheels this summer, they already look like shit. There are several big chips in the powdercoat, both from offroading and around the mounting holes. some down to the metal. Lots of trail pinstriping. interior radius (where a center cap would go if I had them) has bare metal from the balancing machine.

also, it seems like balancing weights have a hard time sticking to the powdercoat. I've had to have my tires rebalanced several times after long highway drives.
