Seafoam 4.7 V8

While I haven't use any of the Seafoam products myself...they have a (newer?) product that you can use directly into the intake, so you don't have to worry about which hose to use.

Thx. I probably still won't do it, just because I'm a wuss... lol, but to explain why, I had a 91 Accord about 5 yrs ago (just out of college), and to be fair, it had over 150k on the clock and had sat awhile at one point. But anyway, that thing didn't smoke or leak any oil, that is until I decided 'hey, it'd be nice to clean this baby and make it last a lot longer' and bought some BS oil flush stuff that you add and then just let your car idle for like 10 min.

I followed the directions perfectly and then changed the oil. Next thing (like within a week), it started leaking oil baaad under the timing cover all over the belt, and at cold startup, it would blow out this thick, heavy smoke cloud that would not dissapate. A mean, the cloud was nuts! So I drove it for like a week like that and then basically got rid of it and bought my 01 Accord.

Now, this was not Seafoam, and I forget the brand, but I learned (right or wrong) not to use any flushing additives, for my own fear maybe.

Now I just make sure to keep nice short oil change intervals. Remember, oils these days have additives in them adready that should be sufficient in my opinion.

But that's just my 'opinion' and no facts/data. I could be innaccurate.

Sounds like what happened to your old car was the sludge from the motor oil plugged the leaks. When you cleaned engine, the sludge was removed and it exposed the leaks.

100% agree. The sludge was beneficial in a weird way for the 'ole girl. And she may have had many miles left in her if it were'nt for that.

HELP! Seafoamed my car (04 SR5 V8) now VSC, TRAC, and Check engine lights on. LOTS of white smoke then a little bit of grey smoke when I was driving it around for five minutes. Then finally no smoke at all. Gas cap on tight. I've used seafoam before on all my other cars and everything was good. Got an appointment at the dealer tuesday. I'm guessing gunk on the sensors.

No gunk. Just pull the neg battery cable off for 5 min to reset the code and you're gold. No worries.

Small Port

The main throttle body can be sprayed out normally by removing the breather tube. Just dont spray too much into it at once or you'll flood it.
Then for cleaning the rest, that small port dannyg shows with the little rubber cap is the best place I see to put the newer seafoam fog in a can thats out now. Its just perfect for its small hose to fit in.
Using the older method that you poor 1/2 the can of liquid in the intake hose may be costly with the newer engines and imo its why seafoam came up with the fog design cleaner witch is more sensor freindly.
Too many sensors that are getting expensive so it can actually create more problems than it fixes. Just the newer engines pollution fighting designs out there today thanks to our wonderful EPA. Glad seafoams up on the times...

I’ve heard it said before that if the vacuum line does not feed all cylinders simultaneously then do not use it through the vac line.
There seems to be some confusion on this 4.7 V8 as there are 2 major Vacuum lines previous posts are referring to. Any Toytoa Gear Heads on this feed that can clear this up?

I put mine in this vacuum line. That is the only major one that I see on the vehicle. I just popped it off while the car was on and let it suck up the sea foam then shut the car off for 10 minutes. It’ll have some trouble starting up since there is that additive in it, but once you give it some gas you’ll see all that seafoam coming out through the exhaust. It worked like a charm.
