Seafoam on an engine with 287k miles...

I bought this 4Runner recently and quite new to the forum. I've searched and read a whole lot on using seafoam. Was checking things today, and looked into the throttle body and saw all this oil residue inside... is this normal?

Was thinking about it, and was wondering why this side of the valve cover (drivers side) has no PCV valve, as the hose from the valve cover is fitted to the intake pipe right where it connects to the throttle body. Is that how it's supposed to be, or is my 4runner missing a PCV valve on this side (as there is one on the other side)?

If this is normal and needs to be cleaned out, is the best way to follow directions on the bottle and slowly pour 1/3 of it into the brake booster line? Thanks

about twice a year i go through and poor about halt a bottle total in the brake booster and some in all the vacuum lines near the efi set up then the rest in the gas tank before i fill up. if its almost time to change the oil ill poor some in the oil also. ive also heard of people pouring some on their air filter and getting that nice and wet. ive never done that so i couldn't tell you of its good or not. i would get some carb cleaner and go through that and douche all that out, that will help a lot. make sure its not running and cooled down

What you see in the picture is at least 5-7 inches away from the throttle body opening, and if I spray carb cleaner in there, it will all get sucked into the combustion chambers. Is this okay??

park on an incline with the front of your vehicle on the down hill side and spray carb cleaner in there till it starts draining out clear. it should drain out by itself on level ground but if you are worried about it park on an incline. let it sit for a little bit and it will all evaporate and all that crap should have drained out the front of the throttle body

Excellent idea to park at an incline! But as opposed to having the front on the low side of the incline, it would be the drivers side that needs to be the lowest right... as the opening of the throttle body is on that side? So I first use the carb cleaner on it, and then wait a while for everything to dry off, and then use the seafoam through the break booster?
