Im having problems getting this thing to seal. Its the housing where the upper radiator hose hits the block. The bottom portion is cast iron and the top is aluminum. It looks like originally there was an O-ring seal, but the dealer tells me its a liquid seal. Ive tried high temp RTV - lasted about a week, then I cut a rubberized seal, same thing. Next came a new rubberized seal with RTV and it lasted a month or so. The problem is on cool down as I assume the two pieces cool and shrink at different speeds and allows coolant to leak out during cool down. I keep a good eye on it, but its just annoying.
The block is clean and flat and the aluminum housing is clean and not tweaked. Its tightened evenly, but not excessivly so as to cause the seal to be pinched out.
Im getting ready to rebuild the front suspension, replace the PCV, valve cover gaskets, plenum and just want to get it all done at once.
Has anyone solved this problem?
