Seat Belt Buzzer "Deleted"

Just had a myself a nice win. I read from a post here that it was possible to delete that seat belt reminder irritating racket. Went to the dealership, said they would have to check. They did it right then,took less than 5 minutes. Best of all, no charge!. I understand why this alarm is needed, but if you are own big tracks of land or your own property going relatively slow, it will drive you crazy.:whoo: Just my experience.

went in for my 20K service today and was told they wouldn't do it. then I pressed him a bit and he said itd be an all-day affair unless I scheduled another appointment to come back. :brick:
 
I've been searching with no luck. Is it possible to do this myself? I do a lot of off-road driving and the seat belts drive me nuts!

You need tech-stream program.

Dealer can program many options in your 4runner using that (see in your owners's manual), including the seat-belt buzzer. It is very simple for the dealer to do this, they connect tech-stream on a lap-top over the OBDII plug, enter the configurable options panel and choose to disable the seat belt buzing. 15 minutes jobs top.

I went to a dealer to do this, first one told me it was ''illegal'', I laughed my ass off, went to another, better dealer and they did it free of charge.
 
It took less then 15 minutes with tech stream loaded on my 5 year old laptop. Best 24.99 I ever spent on Amazon!
 
I'm curious where the illegal fear came from? I understand its related to the seatbelt system and that there could possibly be a law out that that stipulates a warning is needed (much in the way blind and stupid people who can't look up from their cellphones necessitated the need for all hybrids/EVs to emit a tone/sound when operating.) But I am curious where it actually started from.

Also yes, if you have the TIS Techstream software; its literally as easy as checking a box.
 
I was almost treated like a convict for asking at my dealer (slightly exaggerating). He couldn't believe I wanted that. No go for me.

I may have to figure out the Amazon route....
 
Ok ... so with this cable , I can get into all the key fob options ( open close windows ..... ) seat belt buzzer ... There is a list of things in the manual for my 015 Runner .

Be aware that is vers. 8 of the software (I have the same one) and shows only up to 2014 models. For your 2015 you'll need the newer vers. 9.xx
The newest one is version 9.30 if you can find it with the cable.

I usually don't allow the buzzer to chime for very long before i buckle up, but I noticed today that in my 2015 Limited, if i don't use the seat belt, the buzzer ramps up intensity after about 10 seconds, then after another 10 seconds or so, it goes silent.

Just thought I'd share that.

My '14 LE does the same.
 
Thats the same cable that I purchased, the software that comes with it didnt work for me. I downloaded the software from the tundra.net forums and the cable drivers.
 
I suggest searching for tech stream in this forum, there is a massive thread with a how to guide. I did all this 2 years ago, turned off the warning chime. enabled the remote to roll down all windows, and changed the timer for the headlights to stay on.
