Seat Covers - Wet Okole vs Cover King

I've had some people PM me about the charcoal (11) vs light gray (21)

I thought I would take some pictures with the swatches I ordered laying on the seat covers so it can help with the colors. Notice I have the seat covers installed. I took these with my cell phone so hopefully they turn out.

Thanks Bucky, I was one of those who PM'ed you about the colors.. from the swatches they send and the pic's, it sure is hard to tell the charcoal from the light gray.. I ordered the charcoal. I should have them in about two weeks..

Everyone seems to have a gray interior. Anyone order these seat with a Tan (aka OAK) interior?

What colors work best with the 4runner 2000 Oak/Tan?

I ordered, among other things, Wet Okole seat covers from autoanything.com . To date, the things I have ordered have been great and fit well. I recommend them for their quick customer service.

However, when I ordered my seat covers, there were available: Front , Middle, and Rear. Having an SR5 with no third row, I ordered Front and Middle.

When I got my covers the front fit great. The back seat covers had a 60/40 split instead of the 40/60 my car actually has. Wet Okole told me the split is different in the third row seat option.

I am in process of dealing with Autoanything. They are investigating the discrepancy. Hopefully it will work out.

Installing Wet Okole Seat Covers

Hey Guys,

I got my Wet Okole seat covers and have starting installing them but I'm running into a problem. There doesn't seem to be a cut out for the electric seat controls.

I took off the plastic molding along the side of the seat and if I pull the side of the seat cover down it totally covers the controls...i guess I could cut my own hole but I wanted to check with you guys to see if you had to do that. for $300+ for front seat covers I would think they should cut the holes for me.

Let me know what you think...see pics

Here you can see the molding is pulled away and the controls are exposted (I put the button back on just so the seat is still adjustable while i'm working on this).

Here you can see when I pull the side of the seat cover down it completely covers the controls so there is no way I can put the controls back through the molding.

do you have the seat covers on the correct seat? From what I remember there was a passenger and driver side cover, marked on the tag.

But I never took the plastic covers off, I just tucked everything down in there and it was plenty tight.

I took a look at mine, I didn't remove the plastic cover when I installed mine, I just tucked the outsides down in there and it seems to be fine. I think when I tried to sinch them down too tight it started to pull the cushioning down too much. Here is a photo of the drivers side with the seat covers just tucked in. I assume you will find a way that make it better, cutting holes or whatever, take some photos if you end up doing it. But since I never took the plastic molding off, I never understood what the hole was for that you can see in your photo, I thought maybe it went around one control. But after debating I decided to K.I.S.S. and just tuck it down in there. If you are going to cut holes makes sure you cut them in the locations where the fabric will be with you sitting in the seats. With my tucking the fabric in, there is plenty of give for the covers to mold to the final position with a person's body weight in the seat.

The hole in side that you can see in two of the pictures goes around the manual seat control. I guess they use the same cover for both manual and automatic seats. Check out their site and you can see some examples of what it should look like:

How do any of the neoprene covers affect seat heater performance?

My leather is getting a bit worn. I bought an '03 back in '06 and the leather was a little worn even then. Despite my attempts at proper upkeep, I'm really rough on the seats -- probably just as bad as surfers, except without the salt.

I go snowboarding ALL the time, along with friends. This tends to mean a lot of snow on the seats. I am seriously thinking of getting some neoprene for both the water-proofing AND to cover some of the cracks forming in the leather.

I am concerned, however, with how much it may affect my seat heater performance, as they get used a lot. Usually immediately after a snow covered rear has been plopped into the seat.

Does anyone here have both neoprene and heated seats? Can you comment on any effects?

Just curious if anyone has fond covers, seat modifications, etc. that have made the seats more comfortable. I drove about 300 miles yesterday and literally could not stand straight because of my back pain.

I bought an 06 SR5 last week. If I can't figure out some solution to this pain, I'm thinking of getting rid of it.

Comfort

I drive to Canada (12 Hours) and Missouri (16 Hr) a few times a year. So far I find the SR5 to be very comfortable, however I am comparing it to a Corolla, so I guess it is all relative

Does anyone find these covers too Hot to sit on for a long period of time? I make trips to Hatteras to surf which is a few hours away, it would be a pain to take these on and off again frequently.

Take charge dad. Raw carrots, bagels and water are the only items allowed in my rides. I get praise, from teenagers no less, on how sweet my '93 park Avenue still is inside. Wifes car is total mess inside cause she won't lay down the law. I can out-stubborn a 3 y/o.

I had the same thoughts after I got mine. Mess around with the lumbar and the other settings. You should find the sweetspot after a while.

Back from the dead post...

I got the rear Wet Okole seat covers as an early birthday gift last year. The fronts will probably be this year but my son had just been born and I wanted a little more protection in our "new" 4runner from spills and baby-related messes in the back.

Here are a couple of pics from the install. As you can see, the drink holders work the same as before. The covers are a very close match to the original colors and Wet Okole did a great job with their instructions. Overall, the install was a piece of cake.

The one thing I never thought about until the covers were installed was the amount of noise these things kill. While the 4Runner is a solid car, these seat covers contribute to the cause and make it one of the quietest cars I have ever driven. All of that padding (there is plenty) creates a super snug fit anywhere near the back seat including; the seats themelves, rear panels, rear doors. Lots of padding makes for zero rattles.

I love them.

I just realized that the last picture has the seat bottoms installed. The backs and arm rest hadn't been installed yet.

Hi All,

Planning on getting some Wet Okoles for my SR5 - couple of questions:

1) Anyone get the black and taupe combo? We have the tan/taupe interior rather than the gray. Ordinarily I'd be fine with the black and gray, but am only ordering the front seats right now so they might look a bit weird with the taupe regular back seats.

2) Stupid question: are 4Runners in the 'bucket' seat catagory, or the 40/20/40 bench seat category? (front seats...the console is causing an argument here in the wombie household.).
