Seat noises?

I did a search and didn't find this thread until after I started a new one, sorry about that.

The dealership replaced the drivers seat frame assembly on my 04 with the new part(71120-35151) two years ago. Now 10,000 miles out of warranty it is doing the exact same thing that it was doing in 07. I can feel something popping under the seat and it feels like one of the springs is popping in the back.

They told me that since I already have the replacement frame and am out of warranty that any repairs would be out of pocket.

Am I SOL?

I was under the impression that a TSB wasn't affected by warranty since the issues in TSB's affect a massive amount of vehicles?

I am going to bring it up to my dealer either next month, or at my 20K service, whichever comes first.

Edit: I read through the TSB for this and it is in fact only covered until 36K miles.
"This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in
effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle

They did reference the TSB(NV011-06) when they replaced my seat frame two years ago. That is part of the problem I'am having now. Since they already replaced it under the TSB and I'am no longer under warranty I have no leg to stand on.

Shouldn't it be up to them to fix it if it wasn't done right the first time?

I did leave a message for the service mgr. who was a service advisor and helped me when the frame was replaced the last time. In the message I said that regardless of whether the new frame was an updated replacement part or not it was obviously defective to have gone bad in 2 years.

I will wait for his response.

Well they finally fixed my seat. They did not replace the whole seat but Toyota has had so many complaint they have now a frame rail kit out. That fixed my set and I'm happy now. For how long it holds up I don't know.

There is a KIT OUT?? I thought dealer usually just replace them?? Hmmm, you have a kit number or part number?

Thanks

Sorry I do not. This is what my dealer told me. All I can say is the seat does not wiggle or make any poping noises like it used to. I am happy now. My 4rinner did this since day one and it took them over a year to finally fix it. They tried a couple of times before even a factory rep came out and spent a day taking the seat apart himself.

Man I haven't been on here for some time...been a frequent flyer for two years now and the flyertalk.com board is my kryptonite these days!

Anyways, My seat still pops (even in cold weather) even after seat frame was replaced.

I've just come to ignore it.:roadkill:

I'm just thankful they fixed my within acceptable standards. I was going nuts every time I heard it to the point of actually listening for it. You're lucky in the way you can ignore it. I just could not.

What year is your truck? Did they cover it under warranty? Are they covering trucks outside of warranty?

2007 and it was covered because I had complained for close to the 3 year period. It would have been covered out of warrantee anyway because the 1st time they tried to fix it it was under warrantee.

I'll check the warrantee slip and check if it has the kit number. But it won't be for 2 or 3 days as I'm getting ARB lockers installed and that's if I remember. So reply to this thread in 3 days and I'll get a email and which should remind me to check for you.
