I have a 03 Limited with leather seats. My front driver's seat has just started making some cracking noises when I am driving. If I rock back and forth at a stop it does not do it.
Look around for a thread with the same or similar title from about 2 months ago; I had the same issue, and ended up taking to the dealer; there's a TSB about this that covered mine, maybe yours too?
Repair was replacing the seat frame, which was covered by my toyota ext. warranty.

I have been having the same issue. I'm waiting on a call back from toyota to schedule an appt. Everytime I accelerate, brake, or turn it makes popping noises. Glad to know I"m not the only one going crazy. I was hoping it was as simple as a loose bolt.
It could be as simple as a loose bolt, but be prepared for it to be as complicated as replacing the seat frame.
I've had this issue with both of my 4Runners. My dealer's service dept replaced the seat frame on my previous truck (2006 4Runner Limited) and will replace the seat frame in my 2008 4Runner this coming Monday.
There are several TSB's to address the seat rattle/noise issue, but they didn't address the source of my truck's issues. Both had defective seat frames.
Both of my trucks have been in to diagnose the issue multiple times and there's a process the dealer follows when it's under warranty. If your truck isn't under warranty you will probably want to do the work yourself as the seat frame and such will be very expensive! Just a suggestion.
Thanks for the advice guys. I sprayed white lithium grease around the four olts and it seemed to improve, but still make a couple of noises. I'll hit it with some more.
My truck is out of warranty. Any idea what replacing the seat frame at a dealer would cost?
