I don't really care that my leather may not last as long as your cloth. At some point, I'll replace it. No big deal. I'd rather have leather that lasts for 15 years than have cloth that lasts forever. FWIW- my leather is in excellent condition after 12 years and 160K miles.
Point is, longevity isn't everything. I much prefer the feel of leather, and the ability to move in the seat freely.
That is great and glad you like leather.
Myself I find it to be exactly the opposite.
Leather is hot as hell in the summer, cold as ice in the winter until the seat warmer kicks in.
Offroad you slide around all over the place because its slick.
That is great your leather has lasted that long "12 years" most leather seats I have ever seen and owned are cracked and not looking so hot easily within 10 years or less.
I just prefer cloth is all, last WAY longer, feels way better, cooler in summer, warmer in winter, no sliding around when offroad.
The cloth seats in my 1994 Jeep YJ I just sold were still in great shape with only a small stain on the passenger seat but other than that great shape and that is with dogs jumping in and out and being rained on because the top was off once in awhile and just sitting out in the direct sun.
If those seats were leather they would have had to been replaced probably 3X in that length of time.
If you prefer sliding around then leather is the way to go and more power to ya.
I just find it funny is all the amount of trouble and expense people go through to keep leather seats.
