OK you guys are gonna love (or hate) this.
I brought my 08 Urban in to the dealer on Wednesday for the creaking/moving/popping seat...again. When I brought it in, the noises and movement were very sporadic but nonetheless annoying. I got there at 8:30 a.m. At noon, the service advisor says hmmm, we can't replicate the problem, let's take a ride. Sure. We get in and within 30 seconds there are 2 popping sounds. I look at the guy as if to say, are you kidding me?
They keep it for another 4 hours, until 4:00...and they give me a loaner. I swear, that day just dragged. But hey, at least it will get fixed, right?
Guess again. Here comes the good part. The service advisor calls me Thursday at 5:00 and says "hey, our master tech has been working on your seat issue all day and just took it for a ride and (I am not making this up) IT IS A LOT LOT WORSE NOW." Swear. AND he wants me to come pick it up until they figure out what to do. They won't let me keep a loaner vehicle because "it is an annoyance issue, not a safety issue." Um, a moving seat sure is a safety issue. Whatever.
At least they were correct on one thing. The pops and creaks are indeed a whole lot worse. Now I have to drive it all weekend and it pops and creaks CONSTANTLY. All the damn time. WHAT THE HELL HAS HAPPENED TO TOYOTA QUALITY???
I'm told that they contacted Toyota in California to get some pointers on what to do next, but the technical dept. is closed for the holiday and will reopen Monday morning. Now I'm stuck driving it and I'm furious. This issue many not annoy others as much as it does me, but it pisses me off to no end.
My two closest friends are 350 lbs. and 450 lbs. (that's why I hang with them, makes me look good) and their seats don't move, pop or creak. And my 450 lb buddy has a 1995 pick up with 200,000 miles.
Toyota quality at its finest.
