Seattle a 2 party town again!

I'm not trying to convince anyone. I'm just trying to cite statistics and the real truth!
The idea of splitting WA into 2 did not come from me. Scroll up and see who suggested to split WA. Wait a minute, oh yeah it was you NEVADA! (post #8)!
I am just so amused that the very people who wanted to split WA are the ones who are dependent on the section they are dependent on! The very people (eastern WA) who complain about a system is the same system that tehy benefit the most! What an irony!

I think you are very confused, and very self inflated to think we rely on the west side. they RUIN shit for the rest of this state.

Funy you call on the high taxes in WA.

It is true stats can be found for anything you desire. For example Washington State has the 2nd highest gas tax in the nation; 37.5 c/gal, right behind California at 39.5. by comparison, TX is only 20 c/gal. Your King county has perhaps the most inflated realestate value in the nation. and the "beautiful Grays Harbor" you mentioned is currently showing a county unemployment rate of 11.0 %...... yes there is a high cost for left wing politics...

So what is your point?
Yes we could lower our taxes here in King county by a whopping 38% (since we are only getting $.62 for every dolloar we contribute)! But we have to pay higher taxes because we have to support the likes of Grant County who is taking 48% more thank the taxes they contribute. Oh yeah, Lincoln is getting 176% more than what they share.
So in response to your assertion why we have very high tax in WA, it's because we have to support all those red area in the map in posting #29!

Whats with all the exclamation marks? Sounds like someone needs to calm down. In any case, statistics can be made up to support either side of an argument. I am quite sure Nevada's proposal of redrawing the state lines or splitting the state was a joke and theoretical proposal at best. It would never occur.

So calm down and go smoke some mary jane ya damn hippie. :pimp:

And to think I am sitting in my statistics class replying to this post, the irony.

I guess my point is that you're focusing on one very simplistic and somewhat inconsequential chart comparing different counties. It would be more useful to study what it is your politicians are spending your tax money on. I haven't researched this in particular for WA but I'd guess there's some pork in there...
For example under Obama, the feds thought it would be a good idea to give out free cellphones to poor people, a ridiculous program taken advantage of by both the customers and the cell providers.
I'm just suggesting your efforts would be better spent watching the guys in Olympia and how they decide to spend your money....

For your further education

The statistics I pointed was a result of a study compiled by the state's Office of Financial Management at the request of Representatives Reuven Carlyle (D-Seattle) and Glenn Anderson (R-Fall City). Yes, a study sponsored by a Democrat and Republican.
That is what precisely what the study wanted to show, how much of the tax dollars in Olympia are spent in various dimensions, one of which is how it is divided BY COUNTY PER CAPITA.
Go ahead and continue denying what the statistics show. I work as an Enterprise Datawarehouse designer and I work with numerous Data Analysts. But I think it doesn't take a genius to deduce that King County is bringing more to the pie than what it takes.

The statistics I pointed...

Yes, and what is your point?

The fact that Kings is richer than inland counties is quite irrelevant to the issue of whether different communities want to be part of the same political structure.

You are not suggesting that everyone should try to attach themselves to the richest neighbors they can find, are you?

Sam please don't skip your statistics class.

Statistics and numbers are the best way to start a very intellectual and productive conversation. I am a Data Warehouse professional and my role is to equip business decision makers with numbers so they can make better strategic decisions and make a apple-to-apple comparison. I hope you don't skip your statistics class, it is very useful expecially in business and even to day-to-day life.

By the way, what's up with the "mary-jane-smoking-hippie" reference. Another poster here called me "comrade" (obviously to tag me as a commie). Guys, you don't even know me. I do not smoke pot and never in my life have taken any drugs. I did not vote for this socialist lady who is now in the Seattle City council. I do not support the Unions. I think the Boeing machinists union should have voted "Yes" in that contract. And yes, I want my tax dollars spent wisely!

You are reading the statistics wrong!

You are so confused my friend!

Where in the chart I showed that King county is "richer"?

For your education, the graph shows how much each county get in return for every $ it contributes. Is that hard to understand?

Nah, I don't think I'm the one confused.

I haven't said that your chart showed it. I said that the Kings county is the richest county in Washington state.

That, of course, has consequences, for example, how many tax dollars it produces.

But I notice that you haven't answered the question about your point, provided it exists, of course.

Yes I do

ROFL... Do you talk like that in real life, too? :-D

Yes, I do which is why I make the big bucks.

You do not want to believe the numbers when they do not align with your point-of-view. Very typical of those dumb politicians or decision makers who are so hard headed, hold to their twisted belief and always make decisions on gut-feel. The new generations of decision makers equip themselves with data, numbers and statistics. This is the reason why my skills are very valuable and the pay is very good!

Is this supposed to impress people and make your position more valid? I've worked with some data warehouse programmers and managers in my time and my experience is that their heads are so deep in the code and business processes they are consistently unable to look at the big picture.

And to your comment about working with analysts, I work with a former NFL player... it hasn't improved my throwing ability or 40 yard dash time yet.

But, since you seem too engrossed in statistics to consider another logical response, I'll give you a simple example.

Town A has 100,000 people and needs a new plow truck at a cost of $60K.

Town B has 1,000 people and also needs a new plow truck at a cost of $60K.

Let's assume all people earn similar incomes and are taxed equally at $1,000 a year (even though we know that's not the case in rural towns).

Town A brings in $100,000,000 and received a benefit equivalent of .06%. Town B brings in $1,000,000 and received a benefit of 6%. They still paid for their equipment, yet because of minimum fixed costs, Town B is unable to dilute the cost per person as much as Town A. OMG freeloaders!

If you are helping people make business decisions and don't understand that variables like this can easily skew stats, then I feel for your clients.

Gee learn to take a joke man. I never said you smoked, I was merely referencing the fact you lived on the west coast. I'd call a Californian a hippie and a commie just as you'd probably call us North Carolinians hillbillies and hicks. Either way I'm not taking sides in the matter just pointing out stating statistics can go either way depending on how you look at it. What I choose to do in my class time is on me so don't lecture me.

The ONLY statistics that anyone in their right mind should care about is their POST COUNT on this forum. And, yeah, you all are my b!tches!
