Not a joke. It would be much easier to negotiate adjusting borders than forming a 51st state, especially if that meant splitting an existing state.

Seattle is in western Washington! Western Washington's political color is blue. Western WA generates most of the taxes. And the Eastern WA, a republican country, wants the split. My point was, Eastern WA is depending heavily on western WA. It's the rural eastern side getting the handout!

I wonder how much of those taxes they spend and squander. People in rural areas are not nearly as dependent upon the government as urbanites. They don't mind unpaved roads, small towns, and paying a little extra to keep their small economy running.

Where in that that said "population"? It say's for every dollar these counties pay in tax $, how much does it get from the general state fund!

If you want to have a reasonable debate here, you are going to have to put down the kool-aid for a minute and think for yourself... not repost drivel from a leftist news publication that just feeds your self-absorbed notions.

The simple fact is there are fixed costs per capita that are diluted by larger populations. Then consider the disparity of at or above poverty-paying jobs in urban and suburban areas versus rural areas, and it's easy to see why those stats paint a feel good picture for the tax-and-spend bicycle riders of the west coast.

The truth is, those people would get along just fine without a bunch of self-serving politicians tell them what they need, taxing them, and turning around and giving it back to them so they can take credit for their survival.

It is true stats can be found for anything you desire. For example Washington State has the 2nd highest gas tax in the nation; 37.5 c/gal, right behind California at 39.5. by comparison, TX is only 20 c/gal. Your King county has perhaps the most inflated realestate value in the nation. and the "beautiful Grays Harbor" you mentioned is currently showing a county unemployment rate of 11.0 %...... yes there is a high cost for left wing politics...

I am just so amused that the very people who wanted to split WA are the ones who are dependent on the section they are want to get rid of! The very people (eastern WA) who complain about a system is the same system that they benefit the most! What an irony!
