Hi, hoping someone in the Puget Sound area can recommend a shop where I can get my soon to be acquired 5th Gen 4R TE lifted. Thanks in advance!

Seattle Area

There are many places in the area. But they are going to charge you an arm and an leg. With the proper tools I finished my in 3 hour, while watching the Super Bowl! If your not up for the task you can try a few of these places; I know by experience, that these shops are good.

1.) Olympic off-road Tacoma = The owner is Todd.

2.) Bay View 4x4 in Silverdale = The owner is "Eric?" It's been a few years.

3.) Northridge 4x4 in Silverdale area = Owner Dave

4.) 4 Wheel Parts = The store manager use to be Bill.

5.) T.C.'s off Road in Kent

6.) Billy Bob's Off Road Puyallup

I would recommend doing the job your self. It's easy and well rewarding when you complete the task yourself. Plus its a great time to learn about your rig.

If you decide to do it your self; You'll need: Jack Stands, Jack, Pray Bar, Hammer, 10-19 mm Sockets/ Wrenches and a torque wrench.

Side Note: I would get ratcheting wrenches for the up strut mount due to the limited space for a socket. Also make sure you undo the sway bars and the ABS lines and your set. Torque the front wheels to 82 lbs and 83 lbs for the rear.

Nachies--What lift did you end up doing? I see you list 2.5/1.5 in your profile but I was just wondering if that is what you have your suspension shocks(bilsteins) set at or did you just do spacers?
I live in Tacoma and I am looking at doing a lift on my Trail in the next few weeks. I will be doing the work myself as I cant see paying some one to do what appears to be a fairly easy job.
Did you use a spring compressor or just a jack to relieve the tension as was shown in the Mods section?
I will have to keep an eye out for your rig as I drive around.

Oh yeah Olympic off-road Tacoma isnt there anymore, not sure if they moved or not but I live close to there and tried going there one day and they are no longer at that location.

For my 4Runner, I just went with the Daystar 2.5 it was cheap and I am un-decided on what lift and tires I want to run. After owning a Jeep TJ for a number or years and having multiple lifts and thousands of dollars dumped into it, I promised my wife I wouldn't do the same thing to the 4runner. As for the Bilsteins and OME lift, I am not a real big fan.

The Daystar Spacer lift, I was pretty nervous about. But after installing it and using it I am pretty impressed. It does install the same way as replacing the Shocks/Struts and Springs, super easy. Just be careful of the ABS line!! I snapped mine by forgetting to un-bolting from the knuckle.

As for the Spring Compressor, it isn't necessary. The jack will do the work for you. Just have a friend around to give you a hand muscling the lower control arm and rear axle down to give you the clearance.

Sorry to hear about oly off road. At the time, I also lived right down the road from there on 38th & Thompson. Now I live in Bonney Lake. If you need anymore info. Just let me know.

I used four wheel parts and they were great, it was just a 2 inch leveling spring on my f-350.

I tried olympic first, but they refused to put the springs on because they stated they do not put anything on that was not purchased from them, too bad because I dropped two grand for some wheels and tires as well when I got my lift.

Why arent you a fan of the Bilsteins? I was considering doing 5100's front and back with new rear springs, would love to hear about your experience with them so I don't purchase something that I might not like.

Why were you nervous with the Daystar lift kit?

I have become pretty pick after breaking down and staying the night out on a trail or two.

The 5100 are fine for daily drivers and light wheeling. But under extreme use they tend to start leaking and blowing out. I have also had a rear shaft bend.

As for the spacers my only experiences with them is also from my Jeeping. A few years ago Daystars and others like it would tend to last only a few years. They start to break down and pack out. They can also become extremely noisy with dirt build up, thus the reason I am nervous. There's nothing like a good looking rig going down the road sounding like parrots screaming.

2018 Update

I just got my XREAS deleted from my 03 Limited. After a lot of shopping around, I found Tru-Line. I literally cannot recommend the Bellevue location enough.
Dude was crazy helpful, he beat everyone in labor by at least 50%(including the Seattle location of the same shop) and did a killer job.
XREAS deletion with a Boss Coilover install, front and back, out the door for $743. The closest quote I got was $1500 for the same job, just in labor.

Crazy thorough too. For the alignment, he even went through the whole asking for our weights, who drives most, etc which few shops do. And even commented about making the adjustment for the 3/4 driver side lean Toyotas have.
It looked like he does mostly sports cars but the fact he said he didn't know about the lean but still noticed and fixed it made me super comfortable he was actually paying attention to his job.
