Seattle206's 2014 SR5 Thread

Completed the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route (WABDR) this past weekend. Took all of Friday through Sunday but we completed sections 5 & 6.

Started in July 2017 and completed in July 2019 with the same core group of friends. Had an excellent time each year and have many fond memories.

600+ miles from the borders of OR/WA to WA/British Columbia.

After owning my 4Runner for nearly 5 years I think it is time to do some changes. A re-gear will definitely be the next major modification.

You can basically do the whole thing without a full overlanding rig, right? Just wondering if a relatively basic 4Runner with A/T's could handle it, just can't remember if I read that any technical sections can be bypassed if need be. I would love to do it sometime in the near future!

Probably stated before but love this thread. Just relocated to issaquah from Northern California. Do you have any local guys that can do a bmc for a decent price? Mules quoting 225 and hard to nail a day I’ll be in town, I work in Spokane during the week. I have the metal tech kit waiting. Getting good rub on 285/70 rg

A stock 4Runner can do the entire WABDR easily. There is nothing technical about it. We did not take any bypasses and passed every washout easily.

Try Auburn Offroad and Repair and ask for John the owner. Tell him 4Runners of WA recommended you and then give him the quote Mule gave to you. He just might beat them in price.

7/19:

Starting off Section 4 at Chelan, WA.

Not necessary at all but airing down to 20psi makes the ride so much more comfortable.

Found our camp spot in Section 4. A couple buddies in their F150's joined us as well.

Cooked our late lunch. The Traeger and skottle grill came in handy of course.

Setup for the evening.

BioLite smokeless firepit works for charging your iPhone as well.

Can't stand beer, always need hard liquor every time I go camping.

7/20: Chelan to the small town of Conconully, WA section 6.

Found our camp site in section 6, an old deer camp.

Even had an old makeshift toilet.

7/21: Continuing on section 6 to Nighthawk, WA.

The road that separates Washington and British Columbia. We spent 10 minutes goofing around and not a single vehicle in sight.

And that's the end of section 6. We've completed the WABDR in it's entirety.

Haven't updated in a while. 4Runner was hit and ran by either a sanitation truck, trailer, or some commercial box truck on early Valentines Day 2/14. Managed to mangle my Addicted Offroad bumper and bent my two frame horn mounting brackets but avoided damaging everything else on the vehicle. Allstate gave me $3k for the damages.

Placed an order with 4x4Labs for their bumper and P/S cooler kit which finally arrived at my work 8 weeks later. Going to weld on some new frame horn brackets and mount the bumper this weekend.

Went to my friends shop to utilize his welding equipment. 4x4 Labs bumper went on fine but needed little modifications here and there to get it to fit properly. Now waiting for my SW rear bumper which should be here by mid-June.

Looking into 4.88 gearing, tranny cooler, and a Harrop front e-locker as my next project.

Nothing. Spoke to local businesses and neighboring apartment/condo managers. Didn't get a thing regarding security photos on the night my vehicle was hit.
