Second Gen 4runner Troubleshooting

Working on an engine transfer, picked up a '91(22re/5spd) that had a control arm get loose and blow a hole in the block. My friend had a rusted out '95 so we swapped in his 22re after doing the timing chain/seals and the back end(pilot bearing, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch plate). We finally cranked it today and it fired right up. We let it run for about ten minutes and set the timing. We were about to bleed out the slave and road test it when all of the sudden the engine cut out. It now cranks but won't turn over, there is also no spark getting to the distributor. I didn't think about the ecu but checked all the fuses which are fine. Anyone had a similar experience? Thank you in advance for any help.

Check to see if you have power to the igniter, which should be mounted on top of the coil. But first check that there is power going into the coil itself.

Just pulled the valve cover and the timing chain is broken, I'm lost for words, I just replaced it, i CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE? the truck was at idle when it broke. and the chain was brand new-

no troll here, love my yotas, this project represents my fourth and I wouldn't stray anywhere else, but a brand new timing chain breaking after idling for five minutes, I've been running this though my mind all day and haven't been able to make any sense of it. I guess a defective chain is the only explanation? The ears on the link that broke are pulled right backwards though like something got stuck. :redbrick:

no check engine light

car was running right and would stop and start.changed fuel filter ran good for a week.then on and off again checked fuel pump replaced it.had check engine light no power to the pump.then lost check engine light.

Just got the front end off and the bolt that hold the right chain guide on top came undone and is most likely in the bottom of the oil pan. The bottom bolt is also loose. Looks like that bolt got wiggled loose and contributed to the snapped chain. I asked the local toyota guru about this and he said he has only seen it one other time. Oh the luck. Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Looking forward to finally getting her on the road.
