Security system question...

Folks,

I've just purchased my eighth Toyota, a '99 4Runner SR5 V6 2WD. So far I love the truck, and am looking forward to putting many miles on it.

I have noticed one peculiar characteristic, however: When I've locked the truck with my remote, and then unlock it with the key, the alarm is triggered. Any idea about how I might remedy that?

BTW, I was thrilled to find this site! My last vehicle was a '93 Supra, and I was a frequent flyer on the MK-IV discussion boards - those folks saved me a bunch of time and money, and after browsing this site I s'pect that I'll have the same great results here...

id imagine you have to unlock it with the remote as well. as far as the alarm is concerned you are breaking in to it.

if you have the "factory" 3200+, it might be set to "passively arm" with a 0 entry delay. settings can be changed by having a look here under programming. im not 100% sure but i think the 99-02's instructions are the same.
