Seems like Discount Tire prices go up right before a "SALE"... Coincidence?
So I have been doing a fair amount of research for my next set of tires. I have been toying with the idea of jumping up to 35s for the next set. I know that Discount Tire Direct eBay, seems to run two sales a year, one in October and one in March. These are the, buy $400 of tires, and get $100 off. You can combine the sale to end up getting $200 off a set of four tires.
But because I have been looking at them a lot, I have noticed two interesting things. One, is that a lot of their "sales" are mostly just credit card promotions. To take advantage of the "sale" you need to open a line of credit. And let's say that the sale is billed as 20% off. You get 10% off for opening a new line of credit and the other 10% off will come in the form of a rebate that is a gift card that is mailed to you much, much later. Wallah!!!, 20% off!!! LOL.
Then as I am just getting comfortable with some new purchase numbers and justifying it with the anticipation of their upcoming sales... They raise the friggin prices!! Some are about $20 a tire more, give or take. It makes you wonder through all the smoke and mirrors if they ever really have an actual sale at all. Hahaha...

I have gotten a few sets of tires through local DTs and one set through DTD eBay. And I have generally had them take care of me. But I can't say that I am not suspicious of their sales now. LOL.:rant:
