Self Start - Dumb question

Hi All..

I have the toyota viper alarm system. Can a self start be added onto the vehicle. And if so, how does the immobilizer work if a self-start is added?

I believe that it can be done. Whoever installs this will need to bypass the immobilizer system.

I did this on my old pickup truck which had an immobilizer system on it. Basically you have to get a bypass module to go with the starter, and set the module to the same code as your truck. Then when the remote starter triggers, it also sends a pulse to the module which tricks the computer into thinking the key is in by emulating the code. The module only turns on when the remote starter clicks on so you won't have to worry about somebody jacking your car, because the immobilizer still works normally the rest of the time.
