Sorry to post this question but I like to get ideas from people who actually own vehicles (based on how much they paid or sold for), not from edmunds, KBB, etc...
This is my first post and might be my only, so here it goes.
I traded a '99 Ram that needed engine work for the '91 4Runner I have right now. As it sits, the odometer has 273,1xx miles on it. The engine was supposedly replaced/rebuilt 20k miles before I bought it (didn't really care, it ran well and was a straight trade). Two weeks ago I was on my way home from work and out of no where it starts sputtering and spitting black, blue, and white smoke (yes, all 3) and bogs down when you give it any gas. I finish the drive home (2 more miles) and by that time the coolant was boiling over and the engine was overheating so I shut it down quick. I figured it blew a head gasket so the next morning I filled up the coolant, started it up and it spit out so much black smoke you'd think it had a cummins or something in it. Engine was cool so I took it for a 2-block spin and right around 1000-1500 rpm's it started knocking. The vehicle doesn't start/run at all now.
Anyway, I need pickup again and I'm going to sell the 4Runner and was wondering how much I should ask for it? Don't hold back any opinions, I don't know what to ask.
SPECS:
*1991 Toyota 4Runner, 273k miles
*3.0 v6
*Auto Tranny (shifted fine while I drove it)
*Brakes probably 40-50%
*31" goodyear mud tires on the front (~1500 miles on them)
*31" swamper tires in the rear (50-60% tread)
*4 wheel drive works, front end made crunching noise (in 2 and 4 wheel)when steering wheel fully turned
*Interior is worn out with stains, rips, and broken trim (poor condition)
*100% rust free California car, body does have scratches, small dings, and a broken grille
*Passenger side mirror cracked
*Passenger rear window does not work
Please tell me what you think it's worth. I'm aware it's next to nothing but I'm still curious.
