2L toyota diesel and yes it get 50mpg highway the truck i got it from was a pickup and it had 35s on it and still got 50mpg keep in mind the factory diesels came with 4.33 gears.
its not the quickest motor but for wheeling its perfect.
and it only needs a 2LT fuel injection pump and exhaust manifold to make it a turbo the 2l and 2lt are almost identical

:wow: I really like the turbo diesel swap idea! Too bad I am all the way down here in AZ. I have wanted one ever since I saw all the Hilux's in Costa Rica - damn EPA!

Gotta start searching for a motor to swap before I drop a bunch of cash into fixing my 22re.

i get to keep the green 4runner and the diesel engine a guy just bought the snowcamp - the motor. so looks like the hulk is going diesel.

killer deals on those motors, Im surprised no one has jumped on that 3.slow.. thats a STEAL especially with tranny... too bad Im in Tn...

Not too many people jump on a 3.0. If it is time to replace a 3.0, most just swap in a 3.4.
