Sensitivity on ElectroChromic Mirror

Has anyone figured out how to adjust the sensitivity on the ElectroChromic mirrors?

Mine seems to adjust to slowly or not enough when bright lights are behind me.

Also, during the day (on a cloudy, overcast day) when people sort of have their headlights turned on because its raining or something....anyhoo...my question is "Does Ambient light affect the operation of the E/C mirror? I noticed it doesn't really work during the daylight hours.

There's a photosensor that triggers the mirror, and yes, ambient light will affect it. While parked outdoors, put your finger over the sensor and cover it -- then remove your finger and watch the mirror go dark and then lighten as it adjusts to ambient lighting. Then roll down all the windows (rear too) and do it again. See the diff in reaction time? Another thing that affects the mirror is the darkness of your windows. I see your windows are tinted too. I had a tint shop darken the rear glass and put 27% on the front, hence the light coming in from the rear isn't as intense as it would normally be, affecting how the mirror operates to some degree...

This is the auto-dimming mirror we are discussing here? If that is a yes, if it's that sensitive, is it really worth the money and time to install?

I love the auto-dimming feature on my inside rearview mirror. BTW, my Toyota's mirror reacts quicker than my BMW's...i like Toyota better.

I think I'll do what Bryancos did and just limo tint the rear window....should solve problem.

Also, I think I'll tint the side view mirrors also...get a lot of light off those also.
