Hey, I see you are a Cadillac man. I am particularly in love with the late 50s models and I've put a mid-to-late 50s model on my "Cars I Want to Own One Day" list. A few months ago we were in Sadr City and as I rounded a corner I found this poor beauty sitting in front of someone's yard. I'm fairly certain it's a 1956 Seville. Such a pity.

interesting... do you know if they strip out some of the electronics? I know that the aid agency landcruisers go through an electronics downgrade before being shipped out to the field... no computers, no power windows etc. Makes maintenance easier in the field. I assume the same is done on 4runners.

When I was in the Coast Guard stationed at Air Station Clearwater, FL we flew armored Ford Explorers down to Haiti via C-130 for the State Department (apparently Haitians don't like us either). I remember how tricked out they were even though they looked completely stock at first glance. Nice to see the 4Runner getting it's turn!

That's awesome. I've noticed that you see a lot of Toyotas in other countries where there is rugged terrain and reliability is a big concern. Land Cruisers seem to be popular from Africa to Iraq. Strangley enough, so do Land Rovers, which are awesome vehicles, but not nearly as reliable as Toyotas.

armoured 4Runner? wow... It's ridiculous how HEAVY those doors are! I openned up an armoured Toyota Fortuner (the local 4Runner here) and it was soo heavy, i felt like a weakling lifting up something heavy, when in reality it was just a door! Funny, i didnt realize that if the glass is that thick, there's the possibility that the windows wont roll down anymore

Hey guys! I've been away for a while but I'm back now. And by back, I mean back in the states. What a great year in Baghdad that was. And coming back to see that I got 4ROTM is really cool too. Thanks for all the responses to the post.

I'm moving across country in December (California--2500 miles!) and will be towing a trailer with the 4Runner. No doubt it'll do just fine. Toyotas rock! :bigok:
